4G TL and CMBS Option

Just wondering if Acura will ever add the CMBS option to the TL model. The thing works (from personal experience). Just thought that because I am very soon going to become a 4G owner, I was wondering if this option would ever be considered by Acura. As I see it, the 4G is the flagship model for Acura anyway.

Just a thought. Anyone...................????????

"CMBS?"

If you're going to throw around abbreviations at least be polite enough to identify what they mean the first time you use them. After that just the abbreviation will do.

I take it you havent been an Acura owner for too long or never did research on the RL's. Its the Collision Mitigation Braking System which helps detect if the car is coming up on a vehicle too fast and begins to pull ur seat belt tighter and apply the brakes for you so that it will help prevent a collision.

Considering the CMBS + ACC package on a 09 RL costs about $4000 extra, that would put a TL SH-AWD + Tech with such package at around $47000 msrp which is too high IMO for a TL yet.

On another note, adaptive cruise control, does this really work? I have only used regular cruise controls and I've heard people say that the only real effective systems are the ones on BMW 7s and MB Ss.

adaptive cruise is amazing, and the one on my 7 can hold from 1 to 4 seconds of distance. Acura does have plans for CMBS ACC and AFS, if you look at the gauge cluster, the lights are already there. I told about this in my 4G review thread.

the picture of the gauge cluster for the new ZDX looks just like it was lifted from the 4G TL - - Since the ZDX is supposed to be priced north of an MDX I bet the ZDX will have the CMBS as on option

The ZDX definitely has the CMBS. I saw an interior photo from one of the reporters at the NY auto show and you can see the physical button to disable it on the left of the steering wheel (where you typically find the VSA button).

My guess is that for the MMC we'll see the blind spot detection system and if we are lucky the 6-spd AT and the ventilated seats.

Werd Doc, I got your back! Like we're supposed to know about that shit? I've been an Acura owner since 88' and I didn't know WTF that acronym stood for? Why would I research a car I don't own? I drive cars, not research them? This is probably the type of guy that will say that DVD stands for digital video disc, LOL! But wait, he used to drive a Mits Galant? Nevermind...

You sound like an idiot......................Honestly, I probably should have spelled it out for those who don't know what CMBS stands for, but most Acura enthusiast already know what that acronym stands for as the brands flagship car is the RL (which offers this option by the way). COLLISION MONITORING BRAKING SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!! CMBS!!!!! There you go.

As for owning the 4G! Buddy, just because you don't see it in the tag don't assume you're a genius! NOT!!!!!!!!! Don't need to prove that to you anyway.

If you don't have an opinion to offer on the topic, just refrain............if you don't like it. Piss ant!! You got someones back..........LOL. You sound like your 12 years old.

What is it with all the attitude, jeez. Your right, I'm an idiot. Sorry for not knowing everything. Now go drive your Camaro, and leave us idiots alone ya big bully. Having someone's back is obviously something you don't understand. Would you prefer I post "+1" next time like everyone else does? Or are they all childish too?

Bmode I appreciate your support. It's always beeen a pet peeve of mine when people intiate the use of acronyms/abbreviations without at least identifying what the hell they stand for at least once within the body of a text.
I'm sure the OP (other poster) meant nothing by this but I do think it would be nice if we all could identify commonly used abreviations at least once unless, of course, they are so common as to be universally recognized ("LOL," "YMMV," "MPG," "HP," etc.).

When I joined the forum, I didn't even know what CBP, WDP or NHBP stood for? What I don't understand is why lpe387tt is all up in the cool-aid, when I was referring to the insulting comment from Nore03? It's all good, I'm not mad at anyone, at least I know what CMBS stands for now.

Its cool man. I'm not one to get a tude over nothing. Obviously, I shouldn't have assumed that everyone knew what I meant. As for my question, the Collision Monitoring Braking system has saved me 4 times in my previoius ride (08'Acura RL CMBS vehicle). So I was wondering what everyone thought about them including this option on the TL (at least as an option). I thought it would be a nice upgrade and it works. Any thoughts welcome please !!!!!!

I have it on my 07 RL. Doesn't really work. Don't waste your money. There's a national class action lawsuit against AHC regarding it.

^^^ BTW (By the way), AHC stands for American Honda Corp. Didn't want anyone ripping me for using an acronym.

Too bad you don't know what it stands for; it is the Collision Mitigation Braking System. Who sounds like an idiot now?

Ah man, that's funny, but we're all good now...LOL What Doc and I were making a point about was the fact that acronyms are not always obvious to everyone. In a forum I think it's cool to spell it out initially, then revert to the acronym, this way it prevents the hassle we just went through, but as you see some can be presumptious.

Nice one Gear!

I think it will as it is becoming more wide spread on cars in this price category. It's offered on the new A4 as well....

Will not be surprised if Active Cruise, Blind Spot monitoring, Collision Avoidance, etc eventually become mandated as standard equip. same as Anti-Lock Brakes.

I think the RL is the flagship model.. regardless of the number of sales.. I have it in my 07 RL and it is a nice feature. It gives you that extra second you need when you aren't paying attention for some reason..

This is actually a feature that I don't consider worth the cost. If Acura adds it without increasing prices, that's fine, but I have no desire to pay extra for things like CMBS and blind spot monitoring. I have only been in one minor fender bender during my life and I am comfortable braking manually and checking my own blind spots.

I suspect the Blind Spot Monitoring will be standard or at least part of a group "tech" package. Doubt it will be a separate checkbox on an ordering form.

The CMBS hopefully will be separate by itself as it is with the RL. I also hope it works better - more like the Volvo system - otherwise I wouldn't recommend spending the extra $4000 for it. The CMBS on my 07 RL only alerts you at the last possible moment to react. I had the system checked and Acura confirmed it is all working as designed. If that's true, then there's really no "early warning" or "three stage" alert progression like the original commercials advertised when the feature was first introduced in 06. Anyone who remembers the "fog" commercial knows what I'm talking about.
