4G TL Chit-Chat and General Info Thread

Hey all, saw a thread like this in the 2G TSX and figured we could use the same time of thing here. Just a general thread to talk about the random crap that shows up in all the other informational before a mod rips you a new one for getting off topic.

I'll start us off.....

I assume everyone saw Macro got banned for making fun of a Mod's Subaru?

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...702236&page=19

I was just shocked by what he said to me. Even though I have never heard someone talk so sideways out their ass at me in my life, I should have handled it better. I am a die hard Oregonian, Subaru fan(boy) and winter driver. And when someone talks shit to me about those things then has the nerve to question me about my bike rack, it's about enough to push me over the edge.
Rather comical the way that went down if you ask me. Never call out a hipsters bike rack. Everyone knows that.

That was an entertaining read. Mr. Marco FTW!!! I have to admit the mod was hasty and reacted in the wrong way. But it was understandable since he didn't expect a post like that. And he did apologize at the end.

Anyway, we're gonna get some snow here over the weekend and I can't wait to safely test out the sh-awd w/ the MT!

I would hope that they do temporary bans on some of the other people on this forum who constantly try to degrade others.

Testing AWD vs Not having snow...

I'll go with no snow.

Good luck though. Remember, AWD doesn't help you stop! And without snow shoes it isn't as effective.

If you down-shift it does. Most people just use the break peddle, so it usually doesn't.

I tested it in the rain and dry. It's unbelieveable how it sticks in the rain though. No wheel spin from a launch. Granted I'm not drag racing or street racing but it's a decent launch. I did experience the rear give out a little in the rain when I accelerated on a turn which from my understanding the sh-awd is design to do so. I will post up a pic this weekend if possible.

I'll miss Marco, he's hilarious, offensive, unapologetic and the typing equivalent of Tourette's. IMO the mod proved how bad his small man complex really is. I would've laughed and belittled Marco for giving his unsolicited opinion.

There are some interesting posters in 4G forum for sure. Everyone is free to share their ideas, but be respectful.

To change the topic a bit, these things should not be allowed on the vehicle when on the public road as I've seen some recently over here.

Tacky and tacky. Those eye lashes can impale some poor pedestrian in case of collision. I hope none of TL owners would stoop this low to put these on their cars.

I honestly think its important to have people like Marco who criticize shit so offensively. Puts a different perspective on things.

Way I heard it, after this, Marco went outside and punched a cop in the face. Then he took a leak on an electric fence. Because he could.

Marco did offer a lot of good advise on this board, and his positive contributions will be missed. I could live without a lot of the BS crap he directs at people though. I think that there was a lot of posts that he could have been *temporally* suspended for, but I didn't think that the remarks on that thread were all that bad.
Mods should implement the following "Suspended for acting like an ass":
1st offense: 2 days
2nd offense: 3 days
3rd offense: 4 days
4th offense: 7 days
5th offense: 30 days
6th offense: Nothing... obviously a serious personality disorder, and any punishment would be considered discrimination against the handicapped.

it is set up like that.
Ask me how I know

the first ban is a soft ban. you are given a few days of "vacation" to calm down and reflect.

you can always tell a soft ban from a permanent ban by the words "banned" in place of the user's avi.

if the word "banned" is in bold, he or she has been Perma'd

heck, for a minute there, i was leading the bans at my 4th....

Wow, I just saw what was happening in that Subie thread.

IMHO that mod "Mattg" over reacted. He not only banned Marco but 'Bluecarbonfiber' as well. Those 2 stated their opinionsm which that mod disagreed with. Because the mod disagreed with those 2, he banned them??? It looks like he may also ban a 3rd member b/c of disagreement.

Besides, most of those members in Cartalk are regular, clicky, socialite elites who are anti Acura and all hang together like gang members. Disagree with one of them and they all attack you with a internet knife. I remember George Knighton sometime ago was badgered, attacked, and flamed upon for giving the 4G TL 6MT its dues.

IMHO Marco and Bluecarbonfiber did not deserve a ban.

What is that mod going to do, go on a hormonal rampage and ban everyone who disagrees with him? Is he going to be ban me too for writing this post?

Docboy, I posted on ramblings one time because I wanted to give my opinion on a subject and you should of seen the backlash I got; even when I wss trying to be civil and rational about it. Too much drama to give your own opinion anymore. I'll stick to talking about cars only on th is site.

yup. I actually asked for the thread to be deleted but that probably will not happen. Whatevs.

This forum has gone to shit, seriously. Ive been here since 08 so yeah I can say that.
Marco gets banned for some bullshit yet its ok for vivmike to continuously troll me in my own fucking thread and nobody seems to care. Not to mention the fact that he is in everyone else's thread starting shit on a daily basis. Oh and can I remind everyone about that fact that he was actually sending members private messages to meet up behind dennys to fight???? Thats all ok though.............

Im beginning to think nobody cares anymore. I deleted as much of my stuff as I could....I probably won't be here much longer.

Its the members (like myself) that are actually useful and post DIY's and help people that are getting driven away. That should make for a fucking amazing forum.

I miss my 3G

seriously though, all i was trying to do was help people. I didn't deserve to be disrespected repeatedly and nothing be done about it.

At this point I honestly don't even give a fuck if I get banned. Nothing would make me happier than making my way over to mikes build thread and telling him exactly what I think of him and his shitty build but I'm better than that.

Its just a matter of time before he finds his way into this thread and decides to troll me anyways.....

^we know, we've seen your informative post.

vivimike is just a dick....

and P.S. if you dare a mod to ban you, which Mr.Marco did, you'll get banned.

"I double dog dare you to punch me in the face! "

"OW! WHy'd you do that!?"

"you told me to"

OMG the eye lashes make me want to vomit a little.

And speaking of tires, has any one tried the Continental ExtremeContact DWS? I am on my second set of OEMs and they are pretty lousy on snow and ice. Fortunately, they were free, and are remarkably good on wet roads. When I bought my CPO, they threw in a brand new pair. I can't wait for them to wear out for the sole purpose of getting better all-seasons.

I was trained to drive on ice on a lake. And agree that 90% of the danger on ice and snow is caused by the driver. But a little better traction goes a long way if you know how to use it. I used to love passing all the AWD SUVs in ditches in my S2000 during a snow storm. The SH-AWD makes driving on ice and snow that much easier.

If you drive on snow often, I would highly recommend you get a separate set of winter tires and switch the out per the season.

That doesn't work very well in here. I tried that on an old car and it wasn't worth the hassle. We really don't have seasons here like other places. Sometimes we get no snow at all for an entire year, other times it starts snowing in late September all the way through May with a two month break in the November and December where its in the 60s and 70s. It's also been known to snow in July. While I agree with you, I've found it best to just go with all-season tires as long as I stay in Denver.

question of the day:

if you won the lottery(ie: 400million) would you take the lump sum or the full payout over 30 years?

People get hit by busses all the time. Taking the long-term payout is kind of like playing the lotto after winning the lotto.

Besides, I've already got about $22 million spent in my head...I'd need the cash up front.
