2013 TL new owner

Picked up a 2013 TL w/ Tech as my first ever Acura, what a joy to drive!! I'm looking forward to the information here to help improve my driving experience.

If there's any new owner tips, tricks, etc. that I should know feel free to share, otherwise I'll keep on searching and exploring this site.

-read your owner's manual for the maintenance schedule
-follow the MID, and know what to ask for when you go to the dealer for service (semantics makes all the difference in what you pay)
-don't let the dealer wash your car unless you like the dealer induced swirl option on your paint
-search around on the site, there is a ton of info not only model specific but also general info in other sub forums that can be helpful to you should you run into problems.
-be nice to the car and the car will take care of you.

welcome to AZ and enjoy the ride!

PS watch your wallet, the mod bug may bite pretty hard if you hang out here long enough.

It might be easier to post pictures using a photo hosting site as "photobucket".....That is what I use and much easier. Congrats on your new TL....You have a fine riding machine on your hand!! Which color?

^^definitely don't let the dealer wash it...or take it to a car wash. swirl central!!! i love black...i could never own a black car. too much maintenance to keep it clean (and i'm way OCD about having a clean car, though weather is worse than i am ) which is when it looks it's best!

Welcome to the best forum on the net! Congrats on your 13' - Blk/Blk is a killer combo!
Vary your speeds and RPM's during the first 500 miles you drive your TL.
TRY not to have a leadfoot til after 500 miles to.

I agree with what TLtrigirl says....Do not ever allow anyone to touch your TL. Black is a color that requires some maintenance but given some love, will reward you immensely. If you ever require some tips on how to wash/clean/wax your TL, you will find lots of friendly advice. I am known for being anal about keeping my car clean but I will say this, TLtrigirl is an expert at detailing and bring any cars to a perfect luster!! My work is not as hard given that I baby my wheels but she is a pro!!

^^easy to baby a car when it's brand new. it's the aftermath... the years of neglect or poorly caring for a car, or just not knowing any better. i worked on a 2 mos old black X5 recently...swirls...halograms...more swirls. ekkk. i didn't do a paint correction on it, but damn it was killing me to see the paint already going to hell.

Congrats. Spend an hour or so with the Technology Guide that came with the car, while you're sitting in the car. You can get all your customized settings in and learn how everything works. Much easier than trying to learn it while some idiot on a cell phone is drifting into your lane on the interstate!

Congrats! I'm a new owner as well, black on black TL base, I bought mine last October. First time Acura owner and loving it!

My tip - check the oil level after a couple of weeks. You might need to top it up (mine did) as many here have experienced. After this top up, you probably won't need another topping up until your first oil change.

Enjoy your new ride!

Welcome to AcuraZine, Jaz. I'm guessing you're a KU guy?

Thanks everyone! I do plan to get into a better habit of waxing with this car than any of the others I have, and will make sure to look for tips on here. Was thinking of going with Meguiars products???

Big KU fan by the way. Enjoying the game right now and enjoying the site during commercials.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new ride! Can't go wrong with Meguiars products but many here opt for more premium stuff like Zaino. Depends on how much time and money you want to spend.

Thanks everyone! It's nice to have this resource to come to, especially for the intricate audio/nav.

Do you have a link to the "Wash And Wax" page. I tried the search function but it's not taking me where I wanna go.
