How can I have complete control of the gear change in my auto 2012 TL Tech Package. My wifes 2012 auto TSX allows full control both up shift and downshift when it's put in sports mode but my 2012 TL does not. It will automatically up shift 1st to 2nd and will not allow a manual downshift to 1st. Plus my wife's TSX is way more responsive in sports mode no delays on up shift or downshift. Is there a way to improve this?

 

No way to improve (S)sequential mode without override the ECU. No program available at this time, hopefully in the future.

 

I have the same issue...really wish it didn't auto-shift for 1st even with the paddles engaged...

2009-11 can hold the gears in sports mode

2012+ cannot hold gears, will auto shift

i believe this also goes with the tsx years as well.

tested and proven.. i can hold my car in 1st gear for as long as i want

My old 05 tl was the same way... ohh well I guess the 2012 TL won't be as fun on the Autocross course as I originally thought

 

It woulda been more fun had you gotten the AWD model.

 

I haven't played with it much, but I thought I read in the manual that other than 1st gear, you had full control. Did I miss something?

 

You do but you can not manually downshift into first or manually up shift to second and depending on. Your throttle it may not allow upshifts... like I stated above the TSX has a better manual mode which pretty much allows full control over all the gears and is so responsive with the shifts is almost like driving a dual clutch transmission car... I would have loved an AWD TL however this car was too good to pass up plus it was the right color with the tech package
