2012 TL headlight hazing

Hey guys,

Have a 2012 TL with perfectly clear headlights. I am wondering how long before the headlights start to haze over and what can we all do to prevent it from happening? Once a month or so, I put a film of wax on the headlights and buff it off, I hope that keeps then clear over time. Any suggestions?

My last Acura TL, 2006, headlights hazed over and it was not pretty, despite my attempts to keep them cleared and clean.

keep it out of the sun as much as possible. i.e. parking in garage, car cover, etc etc. in some place like CA though, it's inevitable. hazing is usually UV damage from the sun.

Just buy a headlight restoration kit when the time comes.

This stuff has always worked great for me, like the guy above me said, you can always buy a headlight restoration kit too if need be.

but realize that the most important part of the restoration is the wax/clearcoat that needs to be applied to protect the headlight. What headlight restoration kits do is remove the old clearcoat and haze from the headlight. Now you're looking at bare plastic which will haze even faster. You'll need to be extra diligent with the wax/protection after using those products just as a heads up.

apply something with a uv protectant to them such as optimum opti-seal on a regular basis and you shouldn't have any issues.

I've heard good things about the Lamin-X films. They make a computer cut-out of clear (or tinted) film to apply onto the headlights. Similar to 3M vinyl film on bumpers and hoods. That way only the film will yellow/haze and you can replace just the film.

I got suntek PPF on my headlights. I also have covered with suntek ppf full hood, full front bumper, fully covered front fenders, leds fogs and turn signal housings, mirrors and four door handles. I also use wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant 3.0 then Wolfgang Füzion Estate Wax on top of suntek ppf. I just keep up between washing and waxing with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant. So far so good. Replaced ones ppf on headlights cost $80can professionally installed.
