2012 TL availability/First Post

Hello to all,
This is my first post after a while of just lurking around. I've gotten a growing interest in the new TL. I was wondering though how long would the 2012s be around considering they released around March. Would they still be in production going into July or August next year?

Since the 2011 model year (MY) only lasted for approx. 6 months, the 2012 MY will stay until August of 2012. The 2013 MY will then come out in Sept 2012.

Yeah that is true but with production hopefully starting back up there should be plenty of variety to pick from soon.

Yea, mine was suppose to be built on 8/7/2011 according to the dealership and that date has now come and gone with no VIN number... When questioning the dealership for answers it was like trying to find out information from the JFK assassination....

So the wait continues.... it also concerns me due to the recent discussion of the mayan bronze be discontinued because of pigment availability for the color... No mayan no new car will keep driving my 2010...

Do you guys think that Acura will make aesthetic changes to the 2013 model or just add new toys?

I think it will depend on sales.. but I expect that they will leave the '13 as is with '14 set for the redesign 5G.. but, it's just a guess.

Hope you get your car soon ferrcad!!!

And I also think Acura will leave the 2013 to be the same as the 2012 with the redesigned 5G being the 2014 model. Honda/Acura has been keeping the MMC for two model years.

With Honda/Acura's usual practice, there may be new color choices and/or new style rims for the upcoming model year.

But who knows this year around, after the Japanese earthquake has thrown every plan and schedule into a complete chaos.

My TL had an 8/7 build date. It arrived at the dealer on Monday and I closed on tue. Mayan bronze tech package. Love it and can't wait for the first road trip this weekend!

I posted this elsewhere yesterday but felt it was appropriate again today... I feel the dealerships motto is "lets see what rolls off the truck today" to determine if the car has been built or shipped for delivery... Insane, I was told 8/7/11 on production and that date has come and gone with no VIN number... They had it already planned for production before we agreed to terms so would it not be an order now since they have a signed buyers agreement... Working in the IT field it seems to me with the electronic society we live in today I could get some better answers than this...

Maybe at this point, if I am lucky, it will not come till the week of Labor Day and AHF will drop the 5yr rate to .9% like they did over the 4th of July

I agreed to the price with the dealer on 7/25 and gave them a down payment. On the 27th they confirmed a build date. They did a dealer swap of one already scheduled for production. It was shipped to another acura dealership in the twin cities that is owned by the same company. Salesperson shared dealers are having to do crazy things to get cars. Bloomington Acura did what they promised and the car arrived 4 days earlier than expected.

I can share tonight when I get home. Did you have a vin for a vehicle you were expecting?

Bloomington Subaru Acura has been great. This is my 3rd car from them (previous two were Subarus) and my third car from Trish. She is great to work with and a very straight shooter. She convinced us to get MBM without having seen the color before as she knew we'd love it...and she was right! Service dept has been great. Always fixed everything the first time and the car is always done before the promised time. They don't play the games I've had to deal with at other dealerships. They treat you right. Only complaint was waiting area doesnt have wifi, but I think they fixed that.

According to this CNET article you've probably got until August of 2013

On a side note, Tully, welcome to Acurazine.

In the lower right hand corner, the middle icon is a multi-quote button. This allows you to respond to multiple posts in a single thread.

Cheers!

Ah yes, the old switcheroo trick... try to wear you down playing the waiting game in hopes your desire for a new car might get you to pull the trigger on an inventory car. I've been down that road once before with a Corvette order.
