Was reading about the VCM system and I'm wondering if this is why my newly purchased 2012 TL feels and drives "different" than my 2000 (no VCM).

Folks have thoughts on the VCM? I was reading and watching videos - oil consumption issues, shudder feeling, vibration, engine damage.

Appreciate your opinions. I always figured with correct maintence and treating a Honda engine right, she will go 300k+ most of the time.

Just learned 2012 TL does not HAVE VCM.

Sorry.....

But literally, the "feelings" i get when driving are the same as reported with folks that cars have the VCM. Odd....

 

Sometimes the low RPM shudders/vibration can be a lot of things, for example some of the following:
1. Worn Motor Mounts
2. Worn Trans Fluid
3. Failing torque converter
4. Bad control arm bushings
5. Bad Axles
6. Bad intermediate shaft bearing

What symptoms are you having?

 

Hard to explain.
I think maybe I just getting used to the 2012 versus my 2000 TL.
So off the start, I try amd go easy on it, and it kinda hangs or acts like "give me more gas".
same when I'm accelerating, it seems like it always wants to be driven harder and go thru its gears.
it has a slight shudder but it's minimal. And I'm familiar with shudder as i once owned a grand marquis. Ahhhh the gm shudders.
it just seems like it could go for a tranny flush and filter and maybe a small dose of lubeguard platinum.
The tranny fluid hasn't been flushed in 2 years. Even though only 12k miles have gone by.
