2010 TL SH-AWD -tech for $23K
Hey guys,
As I already mentioned in my previous posts, I am looking for a 2010-2011 TL. I found one it's a SH-AWD with tech pack for $23K plus taxes. 87,000KM. The front and rear bumper are repainted (as per dealer there were scratches, no accident).
Please give me your opinion...
Or I should wait until 2015 TLX hits the market and the prices of TL will drop?
Thank you

Where are you located?
Price seems a bit high to me but maybe you could negotiate.
If you are in Ontario, I highly recommend that you consult the Red Book available at your local library. Redbook (Red Book?) lists original suggested price and recent actual selling prices for all models sold in Ontario. Very helpful resource. Dealers typically ask a lot more at the start than what they will eventually accept on a used car. I was pleasantly shocked at the price of my car which I bought with 58,000 km and 17 mos. factory warranty remaining.

Just bought my 2011 TL SH AWD with 58k on it
For 23k in Maryland. There was a 2012 with 42k for 25750 that
A dealer wouldn't budge on price for me so I went with the 11. A year older and more miles but it hit my monthly payments I wanted. Use TrueCar.com for values. When looking for a car I asked multiple dealers to meet prices on the cars through truecar and they would. It was either this or a Maxima. Glad I picked this car.

Just for comparison, I test drove this 2012 before I bought mine. They were asking 2k more for it a month ago but now it is Under 23k with close to the mileage on the 2010 you are looking at. I ended up not buying it cause I wanted something with less mileage.

thanks for the info. The website is US based, I live in Canada and the car prices are higher here. Just an example, the new TLX starts almost at $35K here vs $30K in the US.

Hi again. (Did you mean TSX or ILX in your last post #7?)
In any event, I am not sure how prices compare in La Belle Province vs. here in the center of the universe. A couple points for you: Find out what the selling price is now for a new TL like the one you are looking at. The car you are considering is 4 years old. If it is off factory warranty it is even older in "car years"; the model year '15s are almost out now. 87,000 km is not too bad but it is getting up there. You should only buy this car if you really like it a lot, and you have no alternate candidates. There are literally hundreds of used cars out there. Is this the one for you? If you want the car you have to be able to set the price that you are comfortable with and stick to it. You are an amateur and you are negotiating with professionals who sell cars every day, so be very wary. They are not your friends. Offer what you think is fair and stick to it. I paid $23,000 plus tax for my 2010 fwd with 58,000 km in Oct. 2012. You should be able to buy a 2010 fwd with low miles for under $20,000 right now. What's the awd add to the value in dollars?

The car you are looking at may be a great car, it may be perfect. Only you can decide how much it's worth and and how much you can afford.
But, another idea is to visit your bank. The banks have access to a Black book or similar data that tells them the real value of used cars. Perhaps your bank can give you some perspective on the fairness of the price.

I meant the new TLX - as per Canadian websites - the starting price will be 34K. I believe the 2.4L one.
Thank you for all the info man! I really appreciate it. I will try to do some more research before buying this TL with 87KM on it.
Thanks

If you are dead set on a used TL, try to get on under 4y/80,000km. That way you can get Acura Plus extended warranty so you don't have to worry about how the previous owner drove the car.
My 2012 had a service date of January 2013 with 12km on it when the first owner took delivery. So I kind of lucked out cause the 4 year comprehensive warranty would go till 2017. However it had just under 55,000km on it so I decided to get the extended warranty for 7/160k. I only did this cause I was dead set on the TL and I knew I would keep it for at least 5 years.

Hey Tony. I'm actually located in Ottawa, not far from Montreal and my 2009 TL SH-AWD w/ Nav is up for sale if you're interested. PM if you want more info but I have the CPO warranty as well until end of 2016 and the vehicle has 93,000km. The car includes the full ASPEC lip kit as well as other tasteful mods. I am asking $22,000 but of course there is wiggle room. Shoot me an email or send me a PM. andrewcjduong@gmail.com
