I found a link to a 2009 TL video in Edmunds:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/dc...TL&rP=1&Go=Go#

I can't watch it here at work so if the link works, someone please save a copy in case it goes down...

Nice catch with the Edmunds photos. I'm looking forward to seeing the '09 in person.

I don't care what the Chief Engineer says. The nose of the car is butt ugly. What were they thinking with that turn signal/driving light fiasco??? That combination looks like a total afterthought. The turn light sticks out over the driving light....why???

The interior is OK, but you won't like the non-touch screen Nav Screen. I do like the smart-car touch starter though. Otherwise, no matter how nice it drives, no matter how nice it handles-do you REALLY want to drive a car you're not excited about??? I just don't see where the looks of the car are pulling me into the dealership to trade up....sorry.

Looks a lot better unmasked...everything looks great except the front...its still growing on me but I don't think it holds the candle to the 3G. Rear 3/4 looks great though! Looks better than the G35 sedan, so thumbs up for that

So no promotion of VTEC anymore on the engine cover? WTF? It sure would dress up that engine bay a lot better

Hope they add something for production.

Thanks for the link to part 1 of the chief engineer's video.

All I can say is....what customer did they talk to when they asked about acceleration? They sure didn't talk to enthusiasts. Then again, most people who buy a TL AREN'T enthusiasts.

I would have liked to hear whether SH-AWD was lightened in this model. A hint is that the engine power/TQ for the SH-AWD model is higher.....likely means "no".

I also liked his explanation of SH-AWD. This is the same understanding we've had on the RL for four years. If only the marketers would actually SELL SH-AWD....but that's a lament we've also had on the RL side for some time.

The car looked OK in silver other than that awful grille. I think with this release, the 3G TL will be as fondly remembered ten years from now as the 2G Legend is now.

The mileage figures on the SH-AWD TL are still better than the RL: 17/24 for the TL vs. 16/22 for the 2009 RL. 19/25 is about what I see with my RL in real-world driving, so those numbers seem right on. Need to know the weight of the car, though.

Even with our criticism of the look, mark my words....the TL will sell like hotcakes anyway. Perhaps not as well as the 3G TL, which is still a hot, fresh model to me, but it will sell enough.

I'll be test-driving it....

EXACTLY!! I actually took a Hyundai Genesis out for a spin yesterday and while it is somehere between a TL and Lexus for fide (soft, but not Lexus mush) the styling was very nice inside and out. I saw 09 RL yesterday and well and Acura with this damn new nose across the car line must be smoking somehitng, it does not at all give the impressiopn of a higher end car, that grill actually makes the car look cheap, I was amazed how bad the 09 RL looksed in prson when I saw it, all due to the nose with that excessive shield that looks like cheap plastic. I might get used to the TL interior, but will never be truly excited abou tit. My next car will likely be a G37 Sedan.

With due respect, the chief engineer is not a moron. Other than the "our customers didn't want more acceleration" comment, I think he did a nice job explaining the technical aspects of the TL. The TL, as always, has very solid specs.

It's the designers that I have an issue with. "Power Plenum" and "Keen Edge Dynamic" are not in the least appealing to me right now. Frankly, Cadillac did better with their Edge design language--it looks much more cohesive on the CTS. I could feel different after actually seeing the TL, but it doesn't look good.

Good thing I'm not in the market right now.

That's open for debate. AFAIK, it would be his job to sign off on the final design, and if that's true, then he dropped the ball. Just sayin'...

The car isn't even on sale yet. Why don't we wait to see if it sells well before we proclaim it a failure and call for people to be fired

From Edmunds..."Despite the extra power, the TL SH-AWD doesn't feel much quicker than the standard TL. Sure, there's an extra 25 hp on board, but there's also another 200 pounds of weight too. The TL uses the same Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive system as the RL, so it's able to vary power between the front and rear wheels as well as between the rear wheels themselves."

base is only 100lbs heavier than 08. sh-awd is 300lbs heavier than 08. ~3986 lbs for the sh-awd.
