I found a link to a 2009 TL video in Edmunds:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/dc...TL&rP=1&Go=Go#
I can't watch it here at work so if the link works, someone please save a copy in case it goes down...

I don't care what the Chief Engineer says. The nose of the car is butt ugly. What were they thinking with that turn signal/driving light fiasco??? That combination looks like a total afterthought. The turn light sticks out over the driving light....why???
The interior is OK, but you won't like the non-touch screen Nav Screen. I do like the smart-car touch starter though. Otherwise, no matter how nice it drives, no matter how nice it handles-do you REALLY want to drive a car you're not excited about??? I just don't see where the looks of the car are pulling me into the dealership to trade up....sorry.

Looks a lot better unmasked...everything looks great except the front...its still growing on me but I don't think it holds the candle to the 3G. Rear 3/4 looks great though! Looks better than the G35 sedan, so thumbs up for that

Thanks for the link to part 1 of the chief engineer's video.
All I can say is....what customer did they talk to when they asked about acceleration? They sure didn't talk to enthusiasts. Then again, most people who buy a TL AREN'T enthusiasts.
I would have liked to hear whether SH-AWD was lightened in this model. A hint is that the engine power/TQ for the SH-AWD model is higher.....likely means "no".
I also liked his explanation of SH-AWD. This is the same understanding we've had on the RL for four years. If only the marketers would actually SELL SH-AWD....but that's a lament we've also had on the RL side for some time.
The car looked OK in silver other than that awful grille. I think with this release, the 3G TL will be as fondly remembered ten years from now as the 2G Legend is now.
The mileage figures on the SH-AWD TL are still better than the RL: 17/24 for the TL vs. 16/22 for the 2009 RL. 19/25 is about what I see with my RL in real-world driving, so those numbers seem right on. Need to know the weight of the car, though.
Even with our criticism of the look, mark my words....the TL will sell like hotcakes anyway. Perhaps not as well as the 3G TL, which is still a hot, fresh model to me, but it will sell enough.
I'll be test-driving it....

It's the designers that I have an issue with. "Power Plenum" and "Keen Edge Dynamic" are not in the least appealing to me right now. Frankly, Cadillac did better with their Edge design language--it looks much more cohesive on the CTS. I could feel different after actually seeing the TL, but it doesn't look good.
Good thing I'm not in the market right now.

base is only 100lbs heavier than 08. sh-awd is 300lbs heavier than 08. ~3986 lbs for the sh-awd.
