2009 TL incentive

I understand that, hope they will do some discount on the awd model. The dealer next to my work place have at least 70 TL parking there.

The fact that they discontinued the $2000 incentive that had been in place for several months tells you something, though.

I believe the marketing incentive runs through the 4th of July weekend. We have about 30 base TLs but only 2 AWD HPT models and 0 AWD Tech. There are none on the way or in the pipeline. We cannot trade with anyone for more inventory. So yeah, heavy discounts on base TLs, but not so much on AWDs.

I hope it still runs through July 4 weekend. I'm afraid it might be over since Edmunds doesn't show it. I'm hoping I didn't miss taking advantage of the marketing support. Although I'm not too sure they were giving it to me in May anyway with a quote of $40235 for SH-AWD w/Tech. My lease is up next month so I'll be looking to get the TL soon.

Maybe the incentive ended in June, that's why they quote you with the 40k. I am waiting for an incentive also, hope it will come out during the month of July or August

Problem here is if the incentive is over then they were trying to hold on to the incentive before. I'm getting about the same quotes now as I did in May when the incentive was going on, around $40K. Payments don't make sense either. A 36 mo lease with 12K miles/yr with $3K due at signing has a payment of $591 including tax. I could buy it with the 3.9% 60 mo and $10K down for a payment of $598/mo.

They might be. We essentially see 0 production in the near term with no significant inventory till September when the 2010s arrive. At that point, dealers might want to hold some profit. If it doesn't sell, you can always discount it in October.

The 2000 dollar marketing support appears to be over. At least according to Edmunds. I got a price of 33,999 for a TL with tech package in April/May. At that time, Edmunds had a 2000 dollar marketing support offer listed on the TL with tech package. The base, AWD w/tech and AWD packages had 1000 to 2000 marketing support, I don't remember which package had 1000 or 2000. I took the TL w/tech package offer and purchased in May.

So, I assume Acura has stopped production of 2009 TL's. It's whatever is out there. Is this correct? Does anyone know?
#19
Yes. Production pretty much stopped several months ago once it became apparent just how dramatic the pullback in car buying had become. You can find the inventory most dealers have from their websites. There should be plenty of the FWD inventory out there, but not so much of the SH-AWD, at least based on what's going on at my local dealership.

According to the dealer the marketing support has expired. I had leased a 2006 TL in Sept 06. About 2 week's ago I received a letter from AHFS stating that if I leased or purchased a 2009 Acura or Honda they would waive up to 3 payments. So in a way that is an incentive for current owners.

I talked to a dealer yesterday and stated that I wanted to wait til next month to see if the incentive came back ( It is not showing up on Edmunds or KBB for me ). But he told me there is still in fact $2000 of Tech cars.
Kind of weird.

On Long Island (NY), inventory of the SH-AWD with Tech is slim to none. I consulted with every dealer within a 50 mile radius and most only had one or two AWD with Tech and none in any colors I wanted. Most quotes I received were in the mid $39k range.
The best deal I was able to negotiate was $38,000 + tax, inclusive of tags and dealer fees. I could not get any dealer in this area to move south of $38k and believe me - I tried.
They all gave the same reasoning, inventory was so low - there was no reason to discount any further. At $38k, it would suggest that the $2,000 incentive is still in place on this vehicle. My salesperson said the incentive was $2k on the SH-AWD and $1k on the FWD. It supposedly ends on 7/6.
For whatever its worth, the best quote I got on an FWD with Tech was $34,567. I did not try to negotiate this price because I ultimately decided to go forward with the AWD with Tech. I suspect, that $34k even is attainable for that vehicle in my market.
What this thread tells me is that if you live in an area where inventory is plentiful, then you will get a much better deal, but if you live in an area where dealer supply is dwindling, then you will have to pay to get what you want.
Hope this information is helpful.

More on this general 'availability' topic: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...o#mod=yahoo_hs
BMW M series have always been limited availability. Lambos, Ferraris, etc always have commanded premium prices because they just don't make that many of them.
Mercedes (except AMG, which is limited availability) has been dealing for a good long while, since they've taken a quality and reliability hit in recent years. There was a time, not so long ago, when you didn't dare negotiate on them.
That doesn't relate to Acuras, though. They're plentiful. TLs, even this late in the model year, are easy to find, and plentiful. My local dealer has 70 of them....any color, techs, non-techs, SH-AWD, etc.

I am pleased that you qualified this for your local dealer. You cannot make a blanket statement like this because as rsc92 pointed out, this is not true across the board.

According to my dealer the $2000 incentive is still in effect. Edmunds now shows it as well. My dealer stated that there are different incentives in different regions, based on inventory level. I can also see where supply dictates price. It's the whole supply and demand thing. It just stinks if you're in an area with low supply, especially when you see people posting such great deals. A poster on the Edmunds forum stated prices around $36K for SH-AWD with tech from dealers in TX. I got a quote from one of them but it was for $38K. Since I'll be leasing I really don't care what the price is, I'm just concerned with the payment. But a lower price makes it easier to get a lower payment. Saturday I plan to go to the Acura dealer and the Mercedes Benz dealer. From email quotes I'm expecting about $100/mo difference in lease prices between a TL SH-AWD with Tech and a C300 Sport 4Matic with Premium Package 1 and Multimedia Package.

With respect to supply on Long Island, the dealers have lots of the FWD models, but hardly any AWD and almost none with tech. In fact, I had a conversation yesterday with one of the dealers I did not purchase the car from and he asked why I did not buy from him. When I told him it was all about price, he simply said - I have one AWD in Tech. I don't need to discount it. Someone will buy it in the mid $39's.

Both have been very honest with me. Both told me that the $2K incentive is still in effect on the Tech models, and should be until July 6. That fact isn't published anywhere.
Past that, they don't know what the incentives will be.
They've both been upfront in saying the TL has been a slow seller.
I know I can do invoice, minus the manufacturer's cash, on any Tech model (even SH AWD), with no negotiations. Both have told me so.
