Weather tech vs factory floor liners?

I see weather tech is offering 1st and 2nd row floor mats, but had anybody purchased these or sticking with factory mats? Factory is the only available 3rd row I've seen.

I purchased them. They fit great as you would expect. Typically Weathertech mats do a better job
of containing fluids. They are also quite high in the area of the accelerator pedal to prevent scuffs. I haven’t seen the standard Acura OEM mats so I cannot compare them.

I just got a set. The front are great and have that cup effect for spills etc. The middle mats wont provide quite the same protection that the front offer.. The front is far superior to oem, middle about the same level of protection.

I’m very pleased with the WeatherTech floor mats. Here are pics showing them and how they fit:

Too much exposed carpet for me.

Tuxmats do a better job protecting and look quite a bit more high-end.

Notable distinction seems to be the WT surrounds the gas pedal protecting the carpet. Whereas the Tuxmat has a cutout around the gas pedal. I would think right foot debris would fall/melt and go under the mat & affect the carpet. Is that the case? (I live in a snow climate). I pick up vehicle tomorrow & ordered the factory mats, but just noticed this thread so have to decide fast. Tuxmat pic attached.

Yeah the photos on their product page aren’t accurate - they are general stock images. If you zoom in on my image below you’ll see how fully it’s covered. The coverage is far more than the weather tech offerings. I can take a few more pics tomorrow in better light.

Those do look good indeed. Pics would be appreciated. The colour appears to match your seats. Do you have Saddle Brown interior? The colour choice dropdown on the Tuxmat website lists only black. I'll email Tuxmat for clarification.

Tuxmat replied. Black only. Don’t think that’ll look good on Saddle Brown. WeatherTech has tan.

Sorry yes. Black leather - black tuxmats.

Tough to take pics in the garage.

Understand your hesitation if you have brown interior / light carpet.

For protection though - they are unbeatable.

Picked up the vehicle and although the interior is saddle brown, the carpets are black. Ordered the Tuxmats. The Acura floor mats (which they installed) don't provide much coverage, as folks have said in this thread, so removed those from the purchase order. However, did buy the folding rear cargo tray. Thanks for this thread and your input @Joeliu2003.

Tuxmat floor liners fit and finish is outstanding! Two rows for $256, which is $50 cheaper than the Acura all weather floor matts I ordered but canceled and which, comparatively, are junk. Canadian made too! I will light them up on Google Reviews. Thanks for the suggestion joeliu2003.

Enjoy!!

I recommend Tuxmats to everyone - I am so confident they won’t be disappointed no matter what the vehicle.

did you end up buying the 3rd row seat mats? I’m considering whether to buy them or not but not sure if seats can still be folded down when the mats are in place?

thanks in advance!

With Tuxmats Out of Stock - Any other suggestions?

With Tuxmats now out of stock for 2022 MDX in the US. Any other suggestions for good mats other than Weathertech? I generally like Weathertech and have had them in all my other cars but after learning that Weathertech still leaves open carpet exposed in the MDX, I am a bit less inclined towards those.

Yeah, agreed, having seen the Tuxmats, I may wait for those. I particulalry liked the Heel Pad on the Tuxmats. They appear better than both the OEMs and the Weather Techs.
I must have a "hard" right foot. I am a single right foot driver. I have my MDX since August and drive it daily for short trips and for the ocassional longer trips and already I see a Heel dug in mark on the carpetted mats. In fact, on some other Infiniti cars, I had to replace the carpetted mat because the heel mark got so bad, almost worn right through.

Found Tuxmats on this site. Anyone familiar with them? I’m not familiar so I kinda don’t trust them.

Only the option to buy all three rows and says 6-7 weeks to ship.

I have alway liked Weathertech. Factory alway seems way too pricey. I am in beginning stage of researching a 2023 MDX Advanced trim and excited..... I got to drive a 2021 Lexus RX 350 and interior just seemed minimal compared to the MDX.

I like these tuxmat floor mats, especially with the extra coverage on the second row seats. That exposed carpet when you climb in left uncovered by the oem factory rubber mats will get destroyed by my kids.

I just placed an order for the second row only. They have them available. I called them and spoke to a sales person and they were able to update the website so i could place my order. I will keep my oem Aspec rubber up front.

WeatherTech. In my TLX they lasted longer. Got them for our RDX’s now!

I had Weathertech liners in my RDX and the hard plastic cut my carpet from the edges of the liners. Driver and passenger side. Posted a review on the Weathertech site in regards to this issue and it was deleted. Posted a second time and deleted again. Be careful with them. They are a great product but have this flaw.

I never had any issuse with WeatherTech liners on my Palisade, TLX or RDX's. I use SmartLiner for my wife's MDX and Acura mats for my MDX but my experience with WeatherTech has been positive.

So i removed the center section the of middle row to have access to the third. Is there anything on the market to place over the exposed carpeted area? My kids will destroy that area this winter climbing to the back row.
