Start Stop

Does anybody have any experience with any aftermarket start stop delete? I think the auto start stop is annoying and hazardous to the engine.

This is who I bought my module from.

The auto start / stop feature still remains fully functional and the only difference from the factory setup is that after installing the module, the auto start / stop is disabled upon start up, but you can still turn it on at any time if desired by pressing the button on the console.

I have a 2022 TLX Type-S and am also not a fan of the auto stop / start feature. I resolved that by setting my Individual Dynamic mode to Sport, which disables the auto stop feature.
Thought about one of these modules, but don’t have an issue pushing the Mode button as I’m reaching to the PRNDL panel. Just a thought. I assume the same is possible with the MDX.

PS - hope so as I’ll be buying a Type-S Advanced MDX later this year.

I bought the Idlestopper for my 2022 MDX Type S Advance and installed it. The one I bought switches the mode to “individual” automatically within 3-4 seconds after starting the vehicle. In the Individual settings I can turn off the auto start/stop. Very happy with it!!

I also just installed the newer version of idlestopper that changed to individual mode after starting. Took 5 minutes to install and so far had worked flawlessly.

You can turn it off in the individual drive settings.

The issue is that the car will always default to either the Normal or Comfort mode at startup, so you will still have to manually select the Individual mode each time you start the car.

Idlestopper sells two products - one is the Idlestopper module itself which turns off the auto start / stop to at startup no matter which drive mode is selected and the other is the IDS controller which allows the car to start in either Individual or Sport mode.

I've had both of these modules in our MDX Type S for over a year now and love the fact that my wife and I don't have to think about the auto start / stop feature or having to select the Individual driving mode every time that we start the car.

Which may be fine for some, but not for others.

I prefer to have my settings come back automatically at startup exactly the way they were when the car was shut off. For the relatively inexpensive cost of the Idlestopper and simple install, the convenience is worth it to me.

With some cars, like my F150, you can pop off the panel and put piece of wire/metal as a "short" on the switch, so it always feels pushed, but I don't know if the Acura circuit is designed that way. (And the tacky version is jamming a toothpick on the side of the switch to hold it jammed in all the time--again, the circuit might be different.

Right?

I press the start button, and my hand drops down 6 inches and pushes the idle stop, not very difficult.
