My buddy a 30 year Acura tech says to stay away from the mdx type s. Too much tech and too much going on with everything especially with air suspension. He said if you want to buy an mdx advance is the way to go. I’m liking my 22 Tlx type s too much right now to switch to an suv.

I think you're buddy is right, but any car that cost $70-90$+ will be trouble in few years. Way too many tech components. It's legit a computer. If Acura will have problems, imagine BMW, Audi and MB (I won't even mention LR and Jaguars ahahah). They have more tech and as we all know what happens to German cars in harsh winter

You are right but Acura has one off here and there. Oh boy god saves you from German cars. I feel bad for the owners, who pay $70K CAD and I see their brand new cars on Quebec highways dead due to cold and electrical problems.

My wife and I own three Acura vehicles. I know it's kind of sick, but they have been very reliable and nice to drive. My oldest is a 2007 TL-S with 6 spd. Next is the 2011 MDX which is my wife's favorite car. Relocated it to FL to our home there. Bought a 2022 A-Spec for WI home. I love the revised chassis, handles close to our ML63 AMG. Drove the MDX Type S the other day, it's not in the ML AMG range but a very satisfying ride and quicker than the A-Spec. I have a Type S on order. March delivery maybe early April. Put my deposit down in August of 2021

We really want a red one, there just doesn't seem to be any in the state, probably will wait. Red probably isn't as popular so perhaps once one hits the lot it'll sit long enough.
I am seeing quite a bit of inventory and much of it is sitting for multiple days, so I don't think excessive markup is warranted on this vehicle. On the flip side, we're also interested in the LX600, and that's a completely different story. 6+ month waits, $20k and in some cases $100k markups.

I see the same thing. Looks like they aren't moving as fast as they though they were. I wonder if waiting to buy one would lead to better incentives (IE rebates, etc). The LX600 is nice. I am interested in the Sequoia TRD, I think they use the same platforms as the LX. I just don't know if I can wait until summer.

It's a solid offering, but the LX600 has the true Land Cruiser history/DNA and offroad prowess which has historically helped with resale value. That said, the Sequoia is a nice package, albeit maybe too large for us. The LX600 is truly our max size.
#93
It's really bizarre that the Sequoia ended up getting the better powertrain than the LX600. I suppose the LX should be more reliable since the powertrain is simpler. Is Toyota still doing the targeted 25-year-service-life for the LC/LX vs 15-year for their other products?

I like the LX600 but can’t wait for a car that long. Dealer here sells at msrp but has no clue when it’s coming.
Paying 100k adm is nuts but would never think an lx600 would command that. Thats G63 and GT3 level stuff.
For the Acura dealers here there’s inventory now on the websites, but in actuality it’s all still sold already with deposits. Reasonable to expect msrp but think we are still months from getting discounts regularly.

Well. The MDX is based on a Pilot, which is basically a stretched Accord, or at least it was years ago. $73K is a lot of money, especially for a car based cuv. Not saying it's a bad vehicle, it's just a lot of money for something that has basically Accord components down below.

Congrats! I picked up the same exact one on Saturday.
My initial thoughts from the first few days are that it’s so smooth and refined. Really effortless when driving, plenty of power. The massage seats and stereo are as good as advertised. I ran a quick 30 minute errand yesterday and I felt like I was in some sort of dream state when driving. It was so relaxing. Quiet cabin and smooth ride. This was in Normal mode, so of course the conversation will be different when I take it on a different drive.
The suspension adjusts quickly between modes, it is noticeable but only when you’re focusing on it.
In all, I’m impressed so far and still trying to learn more about what this can do.

Very nice. But I'm not yet at a point where I'd spend X5 money on an MDX.

I don’t even know if protecting it would really protect it. I had amber interior in my Volvo and it was beautiful. But the Jean transfer was real. It would clean up okay, but you could still see some of the color on the stitching.

At first, I thought it would be a tough sale, but I see the number of people buying the MDX TYPE S (at MSRP or above MSRP) is unbelievable. Props to Acura for making a machine that people are pre-ordering and waiting for months to get it ...and yes, it's super expensive. Also, I can see why people are opting for TYPS S over X5. This is special and will standout wherever you go!

Of course! When you are ready to buy one, PM me You won't have access for sure. With the number of negative comments that you write. Acura dealers will probably deny your entry to the dealer lol! At the Acura database, your name is blacklisted! You should buy Genesis.

I just got back from test driving the S advanced. I’ve been waiting and waiting for this thing and it was nice to finally get into one and go drive it. Unfortunately the car only had 18 miles left on the tank of gas (the dealer just got the car off the truck and I was the first customer to get to drive it…still had all the plastic on it and everything!). So I didn’t get to give it the beans very long, plus it’s going to be my wife’s car…so I had to give her a change to drive it! I did run it through it’s different settings and played with all the features.
First things first…it’s not going to blow your hair back. It’s quick and fun, but in a sneaky way. It doesn’t slam you into the seat like I think a lot of us wanted it to. But when you look at the speedo after putting your foot in it, your like, “Oh looky there…I’m doing 75 already.” As for the handling and the brakes, I could definitely feel a difference right away compared to the Aspec I drove before hand. It’s just feels more planted and balanced. I think it drives fantastic as an overall package. Plus I’m sure as it breaks in it’ll get quicker.
Now the massage seats…yes please. They work great and that sold my wife immediately on spending another $10Gs! Like I said, this is her car (replacing our ‘09 Pilot) and she could care less about anything Type-S (except those seats…she’s down with the seats!). Stereo is great also.
All that to say, it’s a very well put together package and the sum of all its parts are what make it unique and in my opinion, worth it. Would I trade a ‘22 MDX Advance for it…I don’t know. If you want a very special car that not many people have, maybe? Me personally, I waited for this car specifically to come out and I’m very impressed with it. My wife really doesn’t care about all the turbo stuff or brembo this or air ride that…but as a car guy, I do. So it allows my wife to enjoy the comforts and luxury while I have some performance stuff to tinker and have fun with down the road as the aftermarket allows us to make this thing in to want ever we want it to be. And I don’t have to pay German prices to do it. It’s expensive, yes, but I think it’s a great overall package and to me, I’ll pay the price of admission (and I’m getting it at MSRP…so that helps). So now I just have wait for my Liquid Carbon/Ebony Advanced to get here…
Your mileage may vary…Happy driving!

While headed to church this evening, noticed that a local dealer had several on their lot. I about to remark to my wife "hey, that's a nice looking A-Spec" until I noticed the exhaust outlets.

$70k for a vehicle with a laughable infotainment system that shouldn't even belong in a $20k econobox is a lot of money for a car. Add to that poor MPG and questionable Acura's reliability - might as well gamble with germans at this price point.
