That is a lot of dough in USD. Imagine what the CDN cost would be? I think we are now in German cost zone.

I was thinking about trading in my Tlx type s but I’ve put too much money into it accessory wise so maybe in the future if I need an suv then I’d get one. it’s super nice but I have same engine in Tlx.

Well. The MDX is based on a Pilot, which is basically a stretched Accord, or at least it was years ago. $73K is a lot of money, especially for a car based cuv. Not saying it's a bad vehicle, it's just a lot of money for something that has basically Accord components down below.

It may share a platform but every car manufacturer does that. The rest of the car is what matters.

Accords or even Pilots don’t have a turbo V6, air suspension, massage seats, HUD, or a 25 speaker stereo do they?

I agree 73k for an MDX is pricey but it does have a lot of features going for it.

The 2022 Acura MDX introduces a new platform to the Acura and Honda lineup called the Global Light Truck Platform, and it's currently exclusive to the MDX. Guessing the Pilot/Passport/Ridgeline will adopt this in the future but not sure. The new 2021 Acura TLX is also built on a totally new platform that isn't shared with any other Honda or Acura.

The current Pilot, Passport, Ridgeline, Odyssey, and 3G MDX are also built on what Honda calls the “Global Light Truck Platform”, which we know to be based on the Accord platform. I would take what Honda/Acura’s marketing department claims with a big grain of salt.

Looks beautiful....Acura TL, RDX and MDX are one of the best looking vehicles in their respective segments. They look different from the competitors, as soon as you see the headlights, rear lights and interior you know it's an Acura. Also, Acura did a great job to not copy other brands like Genesis and Infiniti do. When you sit inside a Genesis, you feel like it's a Lexus, Audi, MB and you name it. And the new QX60 looks great, I have no problem with it but outside looks like Range Rover a bit and of course Pathfinder. Interior is the same, you cannot say it's an Infiniti unique design.

Keep up the great work Acura. Just sucks for Canadians to pay almost $100K for Type S. As much as I believe the MDX Type S looks amazing but $100K (taxes included) is a lot of money.

I spoke with a Honda Engineer and the first post is correct. The MDX 2022 is based on a new platform that they are currently using to develop the Pilot and Ridgeline.

It blows my mind that this SUV is basically shipping now and there hasn't been a single vehicle available for press review. Is Acura afraid it's not going to show well? By price/feature, it seems like a solid entry, but I'm guessing performance isn't great as the TLX Type-S sort of underwhelmed in terms of performance. The MPG is also quite low considering the size/powertrain. The new LX600 with considerable more size and power gets better MPG.

Just baffled that there hasn't been a review of this vehicle yet. As stated, the LX600 has already had countless reviews and it's much further away from customers than the Type-S.

The LX 600 doesn’t have a full length sunroof and I don’t believe anyone has reported on the actual test drive yet. Not to mention it is 20-30K more.

Not sure what the sunroof has to do with it, my comparison of the two was just about timing (since both are shipping in first half of 2022) not that they're competitively segmented. I can go back to the Jeep GC L which had countless reviews before people could buy them, that's fairly typical.

Regardless, there are no less than 20 "first drive" reviews of the LX600, here are a few as well as link to dozens of YouTube first drive reviews:

Most of the ones I reviewed were about the features and not good reviews about the test drive, That motor1 may have been the first I had seen on the Test Drive at $107MSRP.
Like you I want to see some reviews on the Type S.

There were some early walk-throughs and now they let journalists drive them. The RedLine review has 0-60 testing and a few other have done real off-road testing. Regardless, it's mind blowing Acura hasn't at least done a controlled press event, it makes me wonder if they're afraid on how it'll test. Regardless, it's hard to argue the value/features of this vehicle.

It is weird, but I think it has to do with the MDX Type S being behind schedule and also Covid. People were losing interest, including myself. If I wasn't getting the Type S soon then I was ready to move on. Already 2023 SUVs ready to hit the market.

That's more the reason they should get some reviews out there to get some more interest and make people hold off on other purchases, etc.

Yea, you're right. Acura really botched this up. The marketing has been terrible. Toyota already did a press release for the new Sequoia and it doesn't release until Summer. I know more about the Sequoia then the Type S lol. Sad.

Maybe they spent their whole marketing budget on that 4 minute anime series

I'm ok with them being low-key for this release. Less overselling means less things for people to point and laugh at when the car does not live up to the unreasonably high hype Acura marketing sets for it. Keep your head down, and let the car speak for itself rather than trying to position it as something it's not.

They also probably realize that they're so supply constrained right now that marketing spend would be wasted money because it wouldn't result it any incremental sales.

On Acura's web site there is a ton of info on the Type S. You can also see the entire listing of all what comes on all the MDX's....including both Type S versions. There are pics, vids...etc.
Did they splash it all over the TV or other media methods...no...but, hardly anyone else is either. Costs....times are tough now that sales are down due to inability to get parts and make
more vehicles. All are dealing with the same issue.

What's key is: The new MDX platform is GREAT. I owned...yes...traded for an RDX per wife's needs/request.....a '22 MDX Adv. I loved it....she loved riding in it, but, it was too
big for her around town driving. I've owned other MDX's...and this '22 blows them away. Yes, the Type S is expensive....and, after owning an Advance....I wouldn't pay the extra
for a Type S. To me...NOT necessary...unless you can't live without massage seats, and 25 speakers, and air suspension. My Advance rode GREAT...engine had more than enough
power mated to the reprogrammed 10 speed auto. I know that 3.5 V6 very well. Had it in many Acuras and Hondas. I'm fine with the '22 RDX A-Spec/Adv, but, I do miss the MDX.

Nice Drive

Nice short drive today in S-base/Tech (Blue/Black) - not long enough to tell much, but did seem a bit sluggish vs MB 450 that has similar hp/torque but also a very nice electric boost motor that makes acceleration very smooth. Also sat in S-Advance (Blue/Orchid) below, very comfortable seats and stereo w/ power & clarity way beyond expectations.

I get it, but still on Youtube there is nothing. The same blue Type S Advance on Youtube. Radi is the only one with a review that is decent. No press release, No different versions to look at. Everything is grainy footage from dealers iPhones. I hate referencing the ,
Seqouia but look at the videos on it on Youtube. Even the TLX Type S got better love. Just hope we get something soon.

There was suppose to be a press event in California around the same time the Sequoia was being released but Acura cancelled the event because of covid. Alex on Autos Live | 2022 #2 46:34 Minute Mark. (I can’t paste the link.)

Hmmm not saying Covid is a part of the issue but seems like a excuse. If they wanted to make it happen, they would of got it done in a safe manor. Even the reviews from Acura are weak. Its like the Type S base model doesn't exist, lets just shill you are almost $80k Advance lol. Show us more colors. More performance. Lets be real, if you're on the fence are you going to spend top dollar for a Types S by just driving it 35mph around the corner for a test drive? Maybe its food maybe its not? Idk feels like the ball was dropped by Acura with this marketing.
