Cargo Net

I didn't even think about this. I figured I would just buy the cargo net and put it in like any other vehicle but turns out you have to remove panels and install hooks with rivets?

What the hell?

Has anyone attempted this install? I'm assuming the dealer would charge $100 to install it.

I haven’t installed one but after looking at the installation instructions it certainly does look to be a PITA to complete. Makes me think they designed and built the vehicle and someone said “Hey, what about the cargo net attachments? Oops.”

I added in Cargo Net and Cargo Protector into the purchase of the car. I could have done it myself (I think) but wanted it all under warranty.

I installed the cargo net in my TLX Type-S. Yes, I had to remove some panels. With the right tools, so what? Got to know the car better. Also, the rivets required some creative compression (I avoided paying for the $165 tool and uses two nuts and a bolt, thank you YouTube). In an accident I’d like the items in the cargo net to stay put, thus the “per spec” installation. I like the Warranty benefits of having the dealer install accessories, but see those applying to items like the illuminated door sills and welcome lights. Items that might need replacement down the road. Cargo net, not so much. Just my $0.02.

PS - don’t forget to paint the insides of the holes you have to drill / enlarge. Avoids rust down the road!

I have the previous gen 19 MDX and have both the OEM hanging and an universal flat cargo net. The OEM Acura net was installed during purchase and it looks it is the same type/price as the +22 MDXs. The flat universal runs around $15-$20 on Amazon and I use Carabiners hooks for easy on/off with the MDX storage hooks in the hatch. I like to use the hanging cargo net when grocery shopping to keep eggs/bread, round-ish containers, or anything that can roll secure in the hatch.
