I'll say sorry ahead of time as this is kind of a noob question but I did a search and couldn't find the answer exactly.

I'm thinking of getting the cargo net since I transport film equipment around from time to time. Talked to the dealer and they said it'd cost $73 CAN to install. I told them that was pricey and they said it was because they had to install the hooks into the back trunk.

I believed him...but then I took a look at the DIY instructions found on one of the older threads. It looks like the hooks are already in place and the cargo net just comes with the net + clips to fasten to the hooks. Pretty no-brainer stuff. Can someone verify whether this is true?

hmmm, what is there to install? My dealer tried to charge me $40 to install the cargo net until I told them their web site show no installation fee. Other than that, the net is about $40 installed and it works for me.

 

Yeah that's what I thought. I was thrown for a bit cuz I was at the dealer and didn't have net access. I've never been so blatantly lied to either so that might be part of it. I need a smartphone...then I can Google their @$$es.

Cargo net takes less then 120 seconds to install. A no brainer! My Chilian rose hair trantula, Suzy could do it in 2 minutes or less.

 

One dealer tried to claim that they had to charge me for the cargo tray and floor mats because of all of the effort involved in putting them in the vehicle. (Crickets chirped...)

OK, so in terms of "least labor to install an RDX accessory, even if you are a small flightless bird" am I correct that the cargo tray wins the prize? I mean for the mats you have to either walk around the car or you have to reach over seats and stuff (though I suppose one could argue that the heavier rear gate adds to the effort for the cargo tray) - and for the cargo net you have to snap the clips onto the built-in handles - way harder...
