2024 MDX Facelift!

Exciting news: https://www.carscoops.com/2023/04/u-...t-in-the-wild/

Although, MDX looks amazing and there is no need for a change but Acura is on a mission to produce the best for their customers

I am looking at the 2023 MDX Advance and am too close to the clearance prices around the corner to buy now. But I must admit, I am not a fan of the current 2023 grill. Ugh!

Unless they decide to add a Hybrid or Sport Hybrid powertrain, not worth giving up my 19 MDX Adv Sport Hybrid and +$20,000 on top of that.

The biggest two things preventing me from considering the 4th gen is the touchpad, and lack of a hybrid powertrain.

In pic 3/6 I'm trying to figure out if the screen is now an extension of the steering column. it might be as I dont see a gap between column and screen. But it could also be a tester's laptop given it is likely a test mule.

The precision ev concept extended the screen from dash to centerstack (like current Lexus models) and I presume that allows for touch.

Separately, my dealer tells me there is enough unused space for a twin turbo in a type S, so you never know.

I believe I saw engineer youtubes saying that the 3rdgen was designed from the beginning to reserve space for a Hybrid powertrain, and the 4th gen wasn't, so I'd put a hybrid as pretty unlikely given Acura's EV focus.

If the ZDX doesn't sell well, then maybe the 5th gen MDX will flip back to Hybrid. I don't see enough EV demand to sustain Acura as an EV-only brand.

Exclamation 2024 mmc

The 2024 MDX is getting rid of the 3.5 L V6 engine (naturally aspirated) and it is getting the same engine in the Integra Type S.

Say Goodbye to the old work horse, J35 engine.

The refreshed MDX is getting the 2.0 L high revving Turbo that puts out 320 hp. Which is bump up from the current 290 horse power.

That is why in the spy photos, they are hiding the intercooler (sub radiator) in the front grill.

Where did you get this info from? Other comments have said that it is getting the DOHC that is in the '23 Pilot, which would make more sense to me.

Lexus RX went to a 4-cylinder turbo and I haven't heard or read anyone that thinks that was the right move in dumping the V-6; except, Acura sales departments.

Ignore my previous comments, not sure what I was looking at... A14 is the right part for A-spec. I don't know what would happen if swap in BCM for different trim. I also just realized A34 is not in the part catalog - very strange.

So if I were you, I would ask junkyard to find A14 and order a new one to see which side pops up first.

The car does look like a powertrain validation unit, but does it carry 2.0T?

Absolutely under no circumstance is the new mdx getting the 2.0. For a few reasons…towing, the new dohc that’s in the pilot and Acura wants to be one of the only providers in the market with a v6. I’m friends and neighbors with Jack from Savagegeese and he’s met with the Acura r&d team.

I'd be surprised to see the DOHC in the 2024 model. Definitely will be in the minor modification 2025 model year.

Agreed! this looks like a minor facelift like air vents, grill and fog lights. I cannot see any major changes coming up.

mrgold35, Long Time...... Yep I agree. If Acura was smart, they would re-introduce for 2024 a MDX Sport Hybrid (ADVANCE). I have a 22 MDX Advance and wopuld snap that up on a early Lease Termination Ddeal in a NANO - SECOND. But , They won't - they are going EV route form what I understand. Although I really "LIKE" (I don't use Love for cars - only people), the MPGs do Suck. I'm getting around 12.5-13 MPGs in local Suburban driving (However, Suburban NY Westchester county is close to more City like driving) in Normal Mode. I leased my 22 MDX in August 2021 on a Early Lease Termination "program" which included a $1K Loyalty kicked in. I'm into my lease term -19 months, I just received a Early Lease termination letter (but no add'l money kicked in) from my 2019 MDX dealer? I guyess they don't realize that I leased my 22 from a different Acura Dealer. I'm "teased" and Enthralled by a Type S for the extra features & Power / Torque, but not to the tune of another $10-12 K !! What was so wrong with Phasing in with the MDX Sport Hybrid? 310 HP vs 290 HP, 30-40 pounds more Torque and 20% better MPGs !! For an add'l $1800 !! Come On Acura !!
