Where to go to have locking lug nuts removed

Allright, got a question for everyone.

I have two locking lug nuts that cant be removed for some reason. Either the acura dealer over torqued them or something, or they have just seized on, they are impossible to remove. The key was detroyed trying to remove them. And btw, if you have purchased cheap locking lug nuts for your wheels, purchase a set of Gorilla locks immediately or you will find yourself in my position. So, where can i ge in So Cal to get the damn things removed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is someone I can call, please post the number, Thanx

Oh yeah, Americas Tire company already tried to remove them with no results, there just isnt enought room for a larger extraction wrench to fit, my wheels already got all scratched up when they tried to remove the locking nuts, so now i have to get that fixed too!!

same thing happened to me a month ago or so where either the tire shop cranked it down tight or the rusting was very bad. you have to drill out the stud so the lug can fall off...you then remove the rotor and replace the studs. i tell you, it sucks! my wheels ended up getting scratched around the lug openings and it cost $100!!! make sure you choose a good shop to get this done...i might not have incurred and wheel damage.

Use of anti-seize compound on the studs will ease in removal. If you haven't already done so, now is a good time.

I thought that all tire places would know better than NOT to use a torque wrench.

A torque wrench can be set so that it prevents over tighten of a bolt or nut... I guess it senses by pressure.

good shops that use air tools should also have something called a torque stick...it's an attachment that prevents overtightening.

Everytime someone, including Acura dealership services, put on my lag nuts, I'll always go straight home and use my torque wrench to re-torque all the nuts to the proper tightness. This will prevent rotor warping from over or under tightening of the lag nuts. You'll be surprised by the variation in tightness between each nut on the same wheel.

TL-99, go to the tool section of Home Depot, Sears, etc... its just a general tool, take in your lug key to make sure it fits the wrench you buy. That is it...I have one hanging around for changing the blade in my mower :-P

I bought mine in Sears almost ten years ago. They carried two types of wrenches. One was the more expensive ratchet type, and the other was the more common needle pointer type.

For the ratched type, you set the desired torque by turning the dial at the end of the tool's handle. When the set torque is reached, the gear inside will go click, click, click without turning any further.

For the needle pointer type, you read the torque by reading from the printed scale on the tool pointed by the twisted needle pointer. If you buy this type, make sure you buy the one with the long handle, because the short-handled one is not capable of the 80 lb/ft of torque required.
