When getting new tires put on
When getting new tires put on
Hey - how do the tire places handle these stick on weights when replacing your tires? Do they just scrape them off and leave scratches or do they take them off and leave behind all the gummy glue? This is my first car/wheels with stick on weights - my '02 TL still has the tap-on kind.
Just curious if I need to tell them ahead of time what to do - or if it is common practice as far as removal goes.
Thanks

I don't know what common practice is, but I'd bet that commonly they just leave the gummy stuff behind unless you complain. When I changed tires the installer left the gummy stuff behind on the inside of the wheels. If you're picky about your wheel look, it's not good.
I'm not that picky about it, and I left it alone until the 5000 mile rotation, which I did myself. When the wheels were off the car, I did as much cleaning of all their surfaces as I could, but it's a very simple matter to tell where the first set of weights was
Oh well. If you don't wanna see that s**t, you'd better talk to the installer about it first....
