Wheels leaking air

2007 Type S with 114,000 Miles. Stock Type S wheels with Bridestone Turanza Serenity tires with about 40,000 Miles on them. 3 of my tires keep losing air pressure so I take it to a tire shop to have them check out my TPMS (I previously had a bad TPMS that was causing one of my tires to lose air). The TPMS was fine but they said it was my wheels that was causing the air leak. They put a sealant on the wheels and it has been fine after that. I live in Oklahoma now but use to live in Wisconsin with all the salt from the snow. I was told the wheel sealant will eventually wear off and my tires will lose air again and the permanent fix is to get new wheels. Is this true? (I don't mind getting new wheels)

Depends how much, but if it's a slow leak (which seems like it's the case) put some sealant and call it a day. Once you get a leak again (if you do) remove the tire and reseat with sealant. Most of the time unless your wheels are really in bad shape you can go with sealant for the rest of the life of the vehicle and only need to redo them on tire changes...

Providing it's not the TPMS seal, if and when the lose of air becomes an irritant, or when the tires are eventually replaced, clean up the corroded, eroded area by grinding/polishing the wheels in the area of the tire seal, wheel lip.
