Wheel Size Question: 8" width vs. 7.5" width

I'm a new owner of a 2006 Acura TL. I am replacing the stock 17" x 8" wheels. I bought some new wheels from Velox via Costco. The 17" wheel turned out to be 7.5" in width. A call to Velox shows this is the wheel in their database for this car and that they do not have an 8" wheel with the right bolt pattern. The Costco installers say that the tire will fit with the given tires but the handling may be slightly different with the narrower wheel. They also said I may or may not notice it. They said it's not a safety issue. It's also beyond the Velox 30 day satisfaction guarantee so I'll have to work it out with Costco. These wheels are still in the box unused and unmounted. So my questions are 1) Is the 7.5" width wheel a problem? 2) How would a 0.5" narrower wheel drive, handle and wear? 3) Should I just return them and get an 8" wheel from another manufacturer.

Thanks in advance

Return and go with a 8.5 -9.0...Your car will feel squirrely going that narrow(7.5)

Return it, why go even smaller than stock? Costco has the best return policy around, should be a piece of cake to take back.

Any recommendations where I could buy nice new wheels (online or store)? Something that looks similar to:

Rota torque.
17x8 +35 for a conservative fit.

Or save up, do some searching, and track down a used set of work emotions.

The rotas are cheap copies of the emotions. I had torques on my civic hatch

If return is not a possibility there have been plenty of threads where a 7.5" wheel has been used in place of the 8" and personally, the type of tire used would yield more negative handling than the 7.5" wheel. Also, a 245/45-17 can also be used with the 7.5" wheel, but as the wheel will retract about 6mm, I would install 5mm spacers to bring the wheel out to give a more "factory" look.
