Whats the thickest wheel spacers you can use?

I have a set of 20" Dub Shoreline rims that I bought last summer for my moms Maxima. I checked the fitment on my 04 TL and the bolt pattern looks like it will work. However since I have a M6, the caliper is in the way and looks like I need at least 1/2" space in order to get the wheel to sit on the studs...So, would a Half Inch Wheel Spacer work? Would I screw up anything? Thanks.

Depends on the offset and width of the wheel.

If I'm not mistaken I think the specs on the rims were 20x8.5 with a 35 offset and a 5x4.5 bolt pattern...

you must be careful using spacers,if you use to big of a spacer, and you dont have enough threads to bolt to,you hit a pot hole and your wheel breaks off from the stud and costs thousands of dollars...

this happens,it happened to a customer at the last shop i worked at,he had an evoVIII and spacers, and hit a pothole and the wheel popped off and broke all kinds of front suspension, totaled his rotor,caliper,fender,spindel...etc... just be careful u have enough threads to bolt to.

If you plan on going with a bigger spacer, get some hubcentric ones.

And if the fitment is 20x8.5 +35, you wont need a spacer

..but the spoke design might not clear.

An 8-10mm hubcentric spacer should do, although it's blindly guessing based on what your describing. Make sure you get extended studs and most likely open ended nuts to go with it. You don't want to run the risk on mounting a wheel and loosing a few threads which could be the disastrous.

Yeah lol...I have this thing about hooking up cars, even if it's not mine. I was on a deployment when I was in the Navy, and ordered them. I didn't bother dropping the car since it wasn't my decision...Here's a pic though...

Yeah, there's no doubt if I get wheel spacers I'm going to change the studs at the same time. Anyone know where I can get extended ones?

Also the reason for these wheel spacers is because the Brembo calipers touch the face of the rim. I'm pretty sure they will fit fine in the back, however if I get spacers, I want the same spacing for the back.

if you're going to change the studs, then yes, you can go with the spacers that's like 12 bucks each. however, if you want the safest, best way, i'd go with some KICS spacers, grind down your stock lug nuts, and install these. THese have locks on them that screw into your stock studs. By doing so, you're tightening down the spacer, causing it to not shake and damage your studs or wheels.

you can replace your studs later on =)

with 8mm, you'll only have like 2 threads to tight your wheels...trust me...i know....not gonna say how, but i know...lol.....

5mm is MAX i would do...anything more, get yourself some extended studs and some open end lugs OR extended lugs

i think we should both reword this because with my rims, i had 4 threads with a 10mm spacer.

i ended up going with the KICs Wide Thread version that had the studs built into it.

i guess thread count depends on the rim you purchase. but trust, you will not be able to pass anything over 8mm

here ya go...finally got a chance to doing it after i wanted to lower my car a bit....

I'm using APR Extended Studs with open ended lug nuts. notice how the project kics spacers are held down by "conical" nuts. They give you a little tool thingy that tightens it down but since i have the extended studs, it wont work so i just used some needle nosed pilars and tightened it down... they're not going anywhere....

The project kics wide tread spacers come with studs on them so you don't have to get APR extended studs, but the problem i had was OEM studs lining up to the holes on the wheels when using the studs from the spacers.....if you REALLY want to know then ask, it's difficult to explain...

btw, these are 10mm spacers

Studs usually go for around $2.50 per stud. Spacers vary, depending on width, brand, and if they are hubcentric or not.

2.50 a stud? you can't buy this shit at autozone....

you're looking at like 5 bucks a stud...i paid 50 dollars for just the studs in the front. Project Kics wide tread spacers are about $150 from what i heard? i'm not sure...i got them free.

Wow, $150 is a lot for a small piece of metal with some holes drilled in it. And then you have to buy hubcentric rings and new studs. I guess you gotta pay to play.

I noticed most ppl are using 10mm spacers. But kinda scared to order them online and there not thick enough. Do local stores like autozone or pepboys carry these, maybe I can by one, test it, and return it.... : )

returning it is hard because they're already so cheap.
Go to any aftermarket wheel place around your area and you can get em for under $12. I believe Big O// Firestone// or any tire/rim distributors carry them.

Just call em up and ask
