What's the Best Tires For my 2008 TL?

Need new tires for my 2008 Acura TL. 235/45/17

Whats the best/smoothest riding tire out there for this car?

I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on tires!

Thanks in advance!

Lots of choices. I'll be getting the Nitto Motivos- the Bridgestones might be more comfortable for you possibly. Consumer reports likes the Coopoer RS3-a tires. You will need to decide yourself based on cost, performance, comfort, and mileage. There is no perfect answer for all people.

I used the Yokohama Avid EnVigors and they were great.
They were Z rated all season performance tires with a nice profile.
The treadwear and temp rating were 560A so something close.
They might be abit more expensive but truthfully Americans pay nothing for great tires when comparing to what we pay for the same item in Canada.

Henson, we've got lots of threads about that very subject here in the Wheels & Tires Section. Be sure to search through here and see the in-depth discussions!

One of the most popular on here nowadays is the Continental Extreme Contact DWS.

Have them for about 10,000 miles so far and would buy them all over again in a heartbeat.

I've put a total of 140,000 miles on only two sets of Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions. I was ready to put on yet another set (my 2005 TL has 185,000 miles). Sadly, my shop tells me that Bridgestone doesn't make them in my size anymore. The owner of my shop has DWSs on his Porsche, and is adamant that it's the right tire for the car. And a little cheaper than the Pole Positions. Next payday, I'll be getting the DWSs.

How do I get 70,000 miles on one set of tires? Nitro instead of air in the tires. Regular rotation and balancing, keeping alignment in check. All highway miles, and I don't drive like a maniac.

The Michelin MXV4 are very good tires as well for everyday use and OEM on many cars from the dealership.

If you're running the stock 17" wheels, the Bridgestone Potenza RE970 Pole Positions are made in the OEM size-- I had a set installed a few months ago. The RE970 replaces the RE960.
However, my pole Positions probably will not last 70K miles, given the autocrossing mileage on them.

I just installed Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires on my TL a few weeks ago after a lot of research here and on Tirerack. These tires seemed like the best overall tire for performance, ride, and price. So far, they have been great tires but, like I mentioned above, I've only had them a few weeks so time will tell.

Yeah, I've had a set of these on the car before, but I don't remember loving them!

I feel like they took some of the fun out of the handling of the car. It didn't seem as responsive or as fun to drive.

Debating between the DWS or Motivo, however there isn't any winter reviews on the Motivo that I can find. I know many members use the DWS; some like them, some don't.

I did contact Nitto and the reply was :
Thank you for contacting Nitto Tires.

In response to your question, the Motivo is M+S rated (Mud and Snow), but we do not recommend driving in anything more than a light slush for maximum for performance. For deep snow, we recommend a snow tire.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us back at any time.

Thank you,
Nitto Technical Department

the oem michelin tires lasted 73K miles on my car, the yokohama avid 4vs tires lasted almost 70K miles. Both sets of tires measured 4/32 when I replaced them. I now have Yokohama Avid Envigor tires. I agree with regular rotation//balancing and checking the tire pressure regularly helps. Air is in the tires. I get the alignment with new tires. I read that one of the biggest complaints with the Conti DWS tires was weak sidewalls that crack easy.
