ya, racks to have racks (and never use them) seems to have derived from the vw crowd here. its a long standing joke on our local forum. in fact I have some yakima bike holders with broken mounts Im gonna try to sell specifically to the local vw guys. I figure since they will never actually put bikes on them, they might sell pretty quick, lol.
I have a roof rack, but I use the shit out of it all year. Bikes in summer, boards in winter. got a friend making me a basket that will hold my race tires too

Nobody needs to be reminded that it looks awful. We already know.

Its used to be done by drifter's to reduce sidewall flex so the cars are more predictable to drift and can break traction easily. With no flex there is a reduction of grip.
Then it was done to clear fenders. Then to look idiotic. I see the point depending on whether I'm building a drift car for the track however for street cars its dangerous and stupid. But that's just me.

Actually, it is within specification for a 225/35/19 to be mounted on a 9" wide rim, so 9.5" is just stretching it a quarter of an inch on either side. Would that pose any significant safety issues? How much of a stretch do you think a 225/35/19 can handle before it becomes unsafe? I'm wondering if putting that size on a 10" wide rim would be acceptable for a daily driver.
