I here ya...
19" with a 35 series tire is a great balance of of firmness and look without compromising too much. My TL is a daily driver, not a track car either. Volk GT-S's are about 3lbs per heavier wheel than monoblock TE's. That said, I think I have increased performance over stock with a wider tire, stiffer sidewall, and "equivalent to stock" weight... although I could have done slightly better performance wise, I sacrificed a very small amount of increase for a LOT of better aestetics.
I have a set of cheap Ray's 19" NISMO's (lightweight monoblocks) for track days BTW. I wish they were 18s truthfully, 19 is too big, and track tires are too expensive for track performance tires... but for $700 for 19 lb 19s... hey.
and as I stated earlier... I am seriously thinking 17" with beef tires. I wish I could find that picture of Al's car on the 17's and track tires. That's an "aggresive" look. Everything else is poseur.
But thanks for calling a spade a spade.
Edit... Thanks turbonut. Here's what you stretch tire crew get to look forward too:

Todays stretch/stance/low-offset/flush/bike-rack/stickered-lip/etc.... will be tomorrows rice/china-cabinet/body-kit/JDM/22"s/dumped/etc.
Fad's come and go. Not much you can do about it. Typically once it's given a name, and you can just go buy it in a store, it's already passé and on it's way out.

After briefly reading through some of the pages, I can't help but laugh. When people post pictures of their rims in a normal picture thread and they have stretched tires anyone that comments says, "that's hot" or "looks great" nobody says "that's unsafe" or "that's ugly" LOL!

instead of arguing the point which could go on forever... how about we share some info on how to have stretch tires and still be safe so that people who are thinking about doing stretch tires can do it in a safe manner. like picking the right tires to stretch, running the proper psi, and making sure tire wear is even. or you can argue about this for the rest of forever

To those who have experience with tire strecthing, will I be able to go to any reputable tire shops local to me or should I go to a performance shop that mostly does aftermarket wheels.
Tires are falken 452 225-35-19, goin on a 9.5" rim. Not too much stretch, so I thought maybe a certified shop near me could install those properly without damage to the rim or tire bead.

For the Falken452 225/35/19 its rim width range is 7.5" - 9". You can stretch these by an additional .5" without any major issues, but just keep in mind that it's not what the tire is designed to handle. For Falken 19" tires it looks like 235 is the recommended tire width for proper 9.5" fitment.
I think you should be fine having a reputable tire shop install your tires since it's only .5" past recommended tire width, but I'm not sure how that affects the tire's warranty. I like the way my stretch looks, but I also don't want to sacrifice too much in performance. Now if this is strictly show, then go as extreme of a stretch as you want. My

yes. it looks hideous. take them off immediately!
i got my tire shop to put on a 19x9.5 +25 on a 225/35 fk452 tire no problem. it's not that bad of a stretch in the grand scheme of things.
if they have a nice machine, it'll go on no problem.
my place is just a regular shop, nothing fancy.

^ ok, ok JD....I think you have made your point. lol
Its not a daily driver, I like the look, I can always change if not what I wanted, but I am going to try it for now.
I know most dont like it, but modding is a hobby for me and I like tinkering as I cant leave anything "stock" looking.
Thanks to those who have helped me go forward in the direction I am planning for.

i do have one set of 8" wheels i put 205-40-16's on, but thats hardly a stretch AND if I could get the tires I like in a wider size, i most definatly would. tire sizes for 16's blow though.
I agree for show cars anything goes, but people trying to do performance with these setups is crazy... and seeing a civic with staggered wheels (the same diamond steelies every poserass hellaflush asshat has), massive camber, a rollbar, and a sticker that says "friends dont let friends roll rotas" is just aggrivating. Id much rather own a rota than those car trailor wheels that double as nascar wheels.
I figured you all might like this though.
