What are my options in 18 inch rims that clear the Brembos?? Stillhear153??

OK, I was told by my local rim shop and TSW themselves that the vortex with a 40mm offset wouldfit. Ordered a set of four and they didn't clear the brembos. This is the second set of rims that were supposedto clear that didn't!!! I know I am limited with 18 inch but that is what I have to drive on since it is beyond a Daily Driver. I know I can get Ronjons again or Aspecs but I was wondering what other rims in an 18 inch would clear this huge caliper?? Help guys!!!

Jon, you're getting new rims? The RonJons look so good on your TL.

Steven, three rims are bent and I already have a buyer...I love the look of them but am up for a change since I am in need of new rims. Looking for Gunmetal A-spec rims with the 8.5 inch but I am finding out, they are hard to come by. Does anyone have these for sale? Need them yesterday!

Work Wheels will fit. they clear the brembos on the G35, so I imagine they should clear brembos on the TL as well.

I love the RJ's on your car but I understand why you are getting rid of them.

Works would be awesome, but I've heard those are pretty pricey.

Do you have your eye on any that you could post a pic up of?

no the tsw in a +40 will NOT clear the brembos... you will need like a 5mm to 8mm spacer

edit: finished reading your post well here is a quick list of wheels that look good and clear

sorry dont mean to steal your thread, but what will be an ideal offset that will not have any fitment issues for 18x8.5?

wheel brands do not effect anyway in caliper clearance, its the OFFSET and DISK!!!

to tls08, most people who have reg brakes run 8.5 +45, if you have bbk and still want 8.5, go with +"25-35"

Somehwat agree with the above... But +35 would be the lowest you'd want to go with offset to prevent any rubbing

Best thing to do is pick a wheel, then hit me up... Cuz I can tell you just by looking at it if it'll clear

^Of course you can, it's all about how the spokes bend. Most people seem oblivious to this fact.

Jon, any Volk or Work wheel will fit, some will be offset dependent, some not (with regards to clearing the brakes, obviously you have to be in the car's range). For example, a TE-37 will fit as long as it fits the car, whereas a GT series wheel will have to have a lower offset. A lot of Enkei's will fit, as will quite a few Axis wheels.

Have you tried Acura Of Lynwood? That's where I had bought my 8.5" A-Specs and I still see them posting on ebay. Talk to Heather...

Thanks guys for the great responses. I have decided to go with the Gunmetal 8.5 aspecs. I found a set from another member and I should have them by the end of the week. I checked out Lynwood and they have a new set for 1200. Not bad at all but I already worked out a deal with a fellow member and they come with good tires. I will post pictures up as soon as I get them this weekend. The more I see the rims on WDP, the more I am in love with the look......

Yeah the aspecs really look great on the car. I need to email my seller as I haven't got word on the cost of shipping. I hope to have these by Friday but that is out of my hands. I may still be looking for these rims if he doesn't come through.

Here's another option you may want to consider: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-0...Q5fAccessories

I just ordered a set the other day and received the shipment at my house on Friday night. The ebony black finish is even more amazing than the Gunmetal and the price is right with free shipping.

Yeah great find. I almost jumped on them but I did my research and found the only aspec rims that are 8.5 are the original 04 Gunmetal rims and they are hard to come by. I know having the rare rims kind of make them worth paying a little extra and they really look sick on the car. The ebony black is a great look too but I want those gunmetals. I found a new set at performancepalace.com for 1200 so that is my other option. My seller is getting the shipping quote now.
Aspec rims, 60% tread on P-zero 245/40/ZR18 tires and TPMS sensors. I really can't pass it up as long as the shipping isn't crazy! I will soon find out.

+1

lol...That goes through my mind every now and again as well. But I find that the car looks soooo good with the '04 A-Specs....I haven't really found a wheel that tops it...for me anyways.

I guess that Lynwood has increased the price...I think I had paid $1100 USD shipped to me up here in Canada...that was last year though.

Your post made me remember another poster who had both the 04 gunmetals in his garage and and the 05-06 sparkle silvers. He measured both and found that they were the exact same width, even though they were labeled differently. So, I just went out to my garage and measured my new wheels in the box; 8.25 from interior lip to interior lip. I suspect that the wheels were just re-labeled in later years (including the stamping on the back) because they actually came up short of 8.5.

Anyway, at that point, it leaves your preference to just the finish and the Gunmetals are nice. Just thought I'd clarify.
