Type S shocks needed

Hey guys, I have a 2007 TL Type S with 95,000 miles on it. I put some summer tires on the summer before last and when I put my winter tires on a couple months ago, I realized how badly the summer tires are worn. When I had my allignment done, I was told I needed "quick struts." So seeing I have 95,000 miles should I go with full OEM shock assembly, or would it be ok to replace with a premium brand from Napa or evn Monroe? I don't mind spending a little extra, just want to make sure its worth it at 95,000 miles. Is Acuraoemparts.com still the best option?

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that you probably don't need shocks at 95k miles, unless there's evidence of one leaking, or you've noticed a driveability problem, which you probably haven't.

Don't like the Monroe Quick Struts for a car like the TL/TLs as the Quick Struts replacement include shocks & springs and are generic and not model specific.
Monroe doesn't have a Quick Strut for the front, just rear, and will cover the following:
2003-2007 Accord
2004-2008 TL
Another manufacturer has the assembly for the front, and is made to cover the following:
2004-2008 TL and TSX

As can be seen, the same unit covers various models, so the uniqueness of the TL/TLs suspension is lost, but is a blessing for repair shops as the job requires just removal/replacement of the assemblies without moving springs from the old shock to the new unit.

What type of wear did the summer tires show, uneven, feathered, etc?
Also, better check that the alignment was done correctly, so if you have the printout, post the before/after specs and we'll take a look.

At 90k miles mine original strut was fine no real noticeable from new OEM one. I had to replace the front set since the car ran over a pot hole and cause the gas leak out "saggy" on driver side.

Unless the rear's have any odd wear, you should be good until 150K.

I'd honestly invest in Koni Shocks and call it a day. They are warrantied for life but cost quite a bit! I just replaced the suspension in my 2004 with a used set from a 2005TL with 20K miles on them from the black market. Best $100 spent here!

My car is not absorbing the impact of bumps like it use to. The tires were worn in the front as if the tires were overinflated. Odd thing is they were never over inflated...

I didn't ask for the sheet, they showed me where it was on the computer before and after. I'll doublecheck the bill to see if it list anything there.

LOL I have to replace the shock since they were having tire chop and uneven wear on the rear. Bought a coilover and that personally solved my problem. Going 20k and the rear tire is good. I replaced it when it was around 80k miles, go figure.

You can get whole new assemblies shocks/springs from Acura and change them yourself relatively easy. I bought a set of 4 earlier this year from Acura Augusta. Mention the forum and you'll get a discount

I also have an '07 TL-S. One front and one rear shock was leaking at ~105k miles and I elected to replace all four with KYB excel-g shocks (Rockauto) since the OEM assemblies were too pricey. I think they're great OE replacements.
