TPMS sensor replacement

ok so i had a blow out couple weeks back and the sensor was damaged. I finally got around to ordering a new one so now im curious as to the actual procedure once it has been replaced. How is it activated? Does the mechanic have to hook anything to program it to the car or is it one of those things that once you start driving the car will "learn" it? Just want to know whats involved so the local shops dont try to feed my any BS

It must be registered to the vehicle. Any shop with a tpms diagnostic tool can program it. Most reputable tire shops should have one.

Buy an oem sensor. Make sure they install it correct. It needs to be tighten from both directions if left loose it can vibrate in wheel.

Install on wheel.
Put wheel on car.
PSI will show around 58 psi.
Few miles later actual psi will show.

No need for tpms tool or w.e was mentioned above.

Car will pick up new sensor automatically

^+1 Agreed. If they are OEM, they will synch up in a couple of miles.
