Tein SS vs. koni/Eibach Setup?

I've heard good things about both.

I use this car as a daily driver and I have 6 speed MT. I want my car stiff as a rock foremost and secondly want to minimize how the bumpy roads feel in Los Angeles.

I want to try to eliminate torque steer, if possible.

what should I do?

thanks

I have the KONI-Comptech set up which is same as Eibach.

i'm replacing them with Tein SS this week.
The reason is that you can make your own adjustments.

Can't beat that.

I have the Tein ss...it gets pretty bouncy on bridges with a section every 30 feet or so...I had to back off when I was racing an accord going about 125 mph....it got scary !!!

But I haven't had them on their soffest settings yet....I'm dropped around 2.5' all the way around ( no wheel gap)

I would go compech/koni I am geting comptech installed /w stock shocks. Hopefully it will ride smooth /w descent looks. I just don't need the adjustablity. It all depends on what you want.

Boartman, can you tell us how the Tein SS compares to Koni/Comptech setup?

I went from Tein Basic to Koni/Eibach Prokit myself. The Tein is too harsh/stiff on anything other than smooth highway. Handling and steering feel were great though.

The Koni/Eibach combo yields better ride, slightly less sharp steering, but it's definitely more livable.

I don't think the torque steer can be eliminated.

Oh, another thing: Your goal is contradicting. You cannot make your suspension stiff as a rock, yet soaks the bumps on the road at the same time.

with the Comptech/Koni set up the car was riding too low for me.

Front tires were rubbing when turned into driveway. The reason was

that I have wheels with offset of 38 and the 245 wide tires didn't help.

Like the look when wheels are flush with the fenders. It does give you a little

wider stance. With the Teins the car rides perfect.Height has been adjusted,

so I don't scrape the driveway every day and dampers were set at 75%

of the stiffness.

Did you trim the bumpstops when you were using Koni/Comptech? Did you lower the front spring perches?

I have 19x8.5 wheels with 35 offset and 245/35 R19 tires and they don't rub right now. I didn't trim the bumpstops though. However, I want to experiment by trimming the bumpstops a little to give it more suspension travel. I'm just concerned that the fronts would rub if I trim the bumpstops.

What firmness level did you have on your Konis?

How do you like the SS now? Can you describe the difference in ride between your setups? Are the SS much stiffer/stiffer/about the same/softer/much softer than your Koni/Comptech setup?

yeah, I know. I just want it stiff as a rock but trying to soak the bumps as much as possible.

I am not sure if the stops were trimmed, but the car set so low that it was impossible to negotiate any speed bumps at any shopping centers,or driveways
without crawling over them real slow.I also encounter many dips at intersections
and scraped all the time. There was absolutely no gap so when I turned the front wheels the rubber was being cut.
Now I am sitting at 26" from the ground to the top of wheel arch. That suits me perfect.

The Konis were softer so the ride was great, except the height issues.
The SS are stiffer, which I like, personal preference, get better feedback from the road.
Boartman.

I have then Tein SS and love it..im able to raise the height if needed and also adjust the dampening which i do on a daily basis....ive had koni/eibach set up on my old integra gsr and didnt like it because it wasnt adjustable...sometimes it was just too soft for me and thats why i like the SS's...everyday driving i have it set at the stiffest but on the highway or when i have a girl in the car i put it on the softest and it really is soft, alittle bouncier but thats expected, on the soft setting the ride isnt harsh at all, almost like my aspec suspension that i had first. Tein makes great products and gives me the option to adjust it when i want, those are the 2 main reasons i got it. Ill give u an example, i have 20's, 9.5 in the rear with 275 tires and it rubs alittle bit because of the height that the car is set at, only when i get people in the back. One day i knew 2 people were gonna be in the back seat to go to the track and it was about 1 hour drive so i knew it was gonna rub like a mofo, so i raised it up alittle and had no rubbing. Another reason i got the SS was because of the wheel set up i bought, i knew i would have issues with rubbing and the abilitly to raise and lower it when i want helped me out alot. Those are the reasons i bought it.
