TEIN SA Help!

so installed the fronts and was good.

Rears wont fit because lower bushing on the bottom of the coil is too wide to fit in the 'fork' in the rears
Any ideas? Do i have to grind it? If i wasnt on my phone id post pics

Sucks that this is almost 2 hours after you posted - is the car still up on jacks?

I had issues fitting the bottom of the coil in as well, can't remember if it was due to the bushing but a picture or two would definitely help. Friend and I resorted to caveman tactics and just (lightly) tapped it in to place using a mallet with a towel over it, and it worked fine...

make sure you got the TL version of the shocks, since the accord/tsx ones are same, except with either a wider or skinnier bushing, I forget which.

just curious, any chance you used to have koni shocks? On the off chance that you did, I may know why its not fitting.

You got it. Koni shocks. And what do you mean mallet and putting a towel? You mean you pushed out the fork? The cast iron fork or the bushing itself?

I bought it from a member here and he said he bought the base mount/bushings. I have an 06 and was hoping it would fit. Do I have try to open up the fork with a hammer? Or try to push in the bushing?

thats what I figured. the koni shock bushings are slightly smaller than stock so when you tighten the bolt down, it squeezes the "fork" part, and leaves it in that position. That might be why you are having trouble fitting the teins in.

To combat this, I placed washers around the bushing on my konis so it stays at the stock bushing size. Mine are koni sp3's though, not the koni sport (aka yellow). Not sure if the sports are same way

Yeah mine were the SP3 as well.

What do you think I should do to 'widen' them up now?

I had this issue on an S2000 install...I just used a pry bar between the two brackets to widen them back up. Should be fairly simple.

I was worried it wouldn't work cause it look like it was pretty solid, but it didn't help that Texas had record lows, windy, and raining when I did it outside.

Thanks for the help. Going to test it out

Prying it open won't damage anything...it IS solid, but you're not doing it with your fingers. With leverage, it'll bend right back.
