Tein basics....

Ok, first off I currently have tein stech springs on stock struts. I love the ride and the drop is nice and all but unfortunately they have to go. Sad part is they have only been on for a week haha. Its nice and comfy and all but as people come to sit in it and load up its super slammed. I honestly dont care about it being sporty or anything I just want it to be a bit taller and a bit more firm but not rediculoous. ive read up on the tein basics and have not heard a really clear review. Is tein basics what i need? I want my drop to be basically between tein stech drop and aspec drop. And also want the spring rate more firm then the stechs but not ungodly to wear my back hurts when i get out of my car, those days are long gone for me especially in this car as a daily driver.

Please i know to search and etc, however again have not found a true review and etc. And i also know that everone is different in the way things feel and etc but i want a bit more detailed review on tein basics. or if there are springs you know of that are EVEN, must be an even drop, that is between aspec springs and tein stechs(roughly) please let me know.

So mainly i want, comfort, drop between aspec springs and tein stech ( roughly,i guess that would be 1.2" roughly?), and it not to be rough but maybe 25 percent more stiff over stock. IDEAS???

Thank you in advance!!!!

I have tein ss and have them pretty low and even with people in the car I dont have any issues. How many miles do you have on your struts? they may need to be replaced. You could just get some konis if you like the springs.

i have 70kish on my car. And also i like the ride but would like it to be a bit stiffer to handle the extra weight when need be and for it not to sag. I know that struts alone wont cure my problem. Lets just say my brother sat in the back and hes about 180lbs today and it dropped in the rear i kid you not about .75 inch. Just imagine 1 more person in the back with luggage........ oh and not to mention my car with 1/4 tank of gas has -2 camber in the rear, another reason to raise it up a bit and stiffen it. So with the extra weight not only is it slammed but probably sitting at minimum of -2.5 camber.... Thanks for the advice, i think i might go with basics if i dont find some springs and more details.

Heres my ride, again love the drop actually love it to death, but know that im using it for traveling with people and weight so as weird as it may sound want some stiffness/height to compensate for the extra weight.

70k miles is a lot for struts and then to put aftermarket springs on them you are now seeing the stress on them. Thats why I recommended just new struts. But if you just want coilovers which is the best way to go tein basics should be fine.

Well ive had many cars that ive lowered on springs with stock struts and they never once made the struts go bad. I also checked if the strusts were good to go when doing the install and they were how they should be. And since the first day i drove them with the springs on it still drives the same (great and how it should). And just to let everyone know tein s techs are known to be softer springs. Ive installed them on a ep3 civic. dc integra, and 00 accord sedan and they have always felt very comfortable and soft. All these cars either had new struts or less then 50k miles. So im ruling out bad struts, and i know struts alone wont cure my problem. But thanks thedanger. Yes ill most likely go coilovers as another buy in is the install will be direct instead of uninstalling tophats and etc lol.

I love mine. It has a sporty ride, but you can adjust the ride height so Basics may be your best solution.

Get some Tein H-Techs springs instead. These springs are a perfect blend of looks and comfort. I attached a photo of my TL-S for illustration.

Is there any sagging? Also i dont know if its your 19 rj's thats making it look lower then it might really be but could you provide some up close pics and etc? Honestly in the pic it looks to be just as low as stechs almost. If not maybe just a bit not as low as stechs. Is the h techs even? I might do that, i never really seen lowered 3g's with h techs. Get me some pictures and help a fellow aziner haha.

Thanks1!!!!

Geez, I didn't know the H-techs went that low! It looks freaking perfect on your ride. Seems right on top of the tires.

I know my s-techs kinda sagged a little in the rear, not toooo much but then I swapped them out with the tein ss's and its perfect all around evenly. I didn't even adjust them at all, just ran with the required setting for the break in period and left them cuz they were perfect for me. I gave my s-tech's to my brother in law and for some reason they sit perfectly even on his ride with 18inch a-specs. Also my s-techs sat on the stock type s struts.

Maybe you should try out the H-techs. Or go with the Basics so you can just adjust to whatever height you want or go with the SS's and call it a day. Hope you find the perfect solution that suits your needs the best!

PEACE!

I dunno see, exactly my point, the htechs look a lot lower then you thought right. Ive seen civics, and etc with htechs vs stechs and its night and day. where as for the 3g tl apparently its barely any difference. I need some clearer pictures. I did some more resea4rch and found a few pics that looked taller with h techs but then some others that looks the same as above. its killin me ahhhhhhh. I might just have to go basics and call it good, because im not finding a common height with the htechs. Either that or people have weight in the car or something during pics?????? A member on here told me he noticed a significant difference from stechs and htechs... but then the pics i see show me otherwise.... hellllllllllllllllllllllppppppppppppppppppppppp hahah

just get a coilover of choice so you can pick your ride height instead of being limited to whatever the spring allows you to go. Also so the strut matches the spring, instead of having aftermarket spring and a OEM strut not made for it.

Call me stupid but i think im going to go h techs for now and take a gamble. Surely they will be taller then s techs after my install and lower then aspecs...... And if then it isnt, then basics it is. I know i know i should go basics first, but i have a couple grand of car parts that need to be sold first and thats not going to happen for a year or so as its sold but being paid off monthly......... Ill update with some quality pics vs my stechs for everyones view!

Hatchconversion,

There is absolutely no sagging in the rear like the Eibachs. The car with the H-Techs actually has a slight rake from rear to front which is what I prefer. I would say that the S-Techs are about 0.5" lower from all of the pics I have seen on this forum. The 19's do take up a small amount of wheel gap but I am also running 245/35-19 tires. It may be a little different with a 235/35-19 tire. Also, these RonJons are offset at +32 which also gives the impression that there is less fenderwell gap since the tires are pushed closer to the edge of the fenderwells. A higher offset wheel/tire combo with give a different look. I may take a couple of more daytime pics this coming weekend. Stay tuned.

It really depends on what you prefer. If you want comfort you could get Tein basic but if you want to stiff or soft the setting depending on your driving condition your choice will be Tein SS since you could add edfc on to it. It might cost you alot for coilover but it's def. worth it
