Suggestions for rims/summer tires - Canada
I have an 04 TL 6speed which I purchased certified from an Acura dealer in July 08. It came with stock rims. After a few weeks of driving I realized I was driving on winter tires. I kept them on and they have been great throughout the winter - still have tons of tread life left.
I want to keep the winter tires on the stockies and get new rims/tires for the summer. If possible, I'd like to keep it under $1000 (Canadian) for everything.
any suggestions?
(my suspension is stock - I'm not lowered)

I don't think you will be able to find rims and tires for under a grand up here but check out Steelcase just north of Steels and Woodbine they seem to be one of the cheaper tire places in Toronto. Newmarkettire is not bad but they are a bit north of the city. I have to get new rubber as well this spring but the cheapest I have found is just over $200 a tire for 235/40 18's (Toyo T1R)

I have done a lot of looking in Canada and you'll be luckey to get 18" wheels alone for that price.
You can get wheel/tire packages out of the US for as little as $600 for 17" ... closer to $1000 for 18"
Carmodifier.com and 1010tires.com are both worth looking at.

Shouldn't be a problem for under $1000, unless teh shipping is astronomical.
Tires $312
Wheels $448/$512
Plus shipping etc
Get a set of 245/45-17 Bridegstone Potenza Re-01R from Tire Rack on closeout special $78 each $312 set.
Look at the Rack for wheels:
MSW Type 12 17x8-$117 each
Type 14- $112 each
Type 16- $126 each
Sport Tuning 17x8- $126 each
Check with Tire Rack to see about mounting, balancing they use Hunter Road Force (Best), and shipping? to Canada.
Don't waste time as the tires on closeout usually don't last long.

^ The exchange, shipping, Customs and Brokerage will push this figure well north of $1000 CAD. Tire Rack will calculate everything on the checkout page on their site. It's nice because they'll even include all taxes and brokerage/Customs fees.
To the OP...I'd budget closer to $1500 - $2000 for wheels/tires unless you find a used set locally to you.

If he can ship to himself at a US addy then you can eliminate the higher shipping ( and its substantial ) broker fees etc. But $700 is still going to become over $1000 easily.
I know I have researched it a lot and bought 3 wheel/tire packages and 3 sets of tires from US sources including the Tire Rack but I live 10 minutes form the US border and have a place to ship to.

I just got Axis Shines from 1010 prior to thier price adjustment for the same price as KXs online price. $340 per wheel. You may find if you order from KX now they will call the wheel "Out of stock" and drop the order then readjust the price . The $340 price was based on a near par Can/US dollar.

Thanks all for the replies and suggestions. I will definitely take a look at Steelcase since I live 5 minutes from that location. Will also look at Tire Rack. It might be worth finding someone to ship to in Buffalo and drive there over a weekend to get them installed.
Has anyone had experience dealing with these guys?:
http://www.maximwheels.net/
They are in Markham and seem to have a few decent looking 17" or 18" packages for close to my budget. My other option of course is to just get some good rubber and put them on my stock wheels then buy some cheap steel rims next winter - but I HATE how the TL looks with the cheap rims!!!

Not on the shipping costs but you also have to factor in $$ exchange at 25% .. duty at 7% and UPS / Fedex etc all have customs brokers that clear the goods through customs for a fee and that $35 to $75 depending on the broker.

Gotcha, just out of curiosity, how much is the Provincial Sales Tax, and the Goods and Services Tax?
