Steering wheel shakes at 65+mph

I got new tires and had the balance them. Steering wheel still had a shake to it. had them rebalance them and still was there. Went back a 3rd time and they replaced the front tires, and it is still there. Not a bent rim, not a balance issue and wouldnt think it would be the tires since they put new ones on.
Any ideas?

It's tires 98% of the time, and a lot of people fight with it because it's usually when they think they have great tires. May I ask what make and model of tire you are running?

The other 2% is going to be a stuck brake caliper, and even a small stick can cause big vibrations. Do you smell brakes when you stop from going highway speeds?

My guess is that, new tires or not, it's a tire issue.

Worn upper ball joints or damaged/pitted axles can cause shaking.

Does the shake get better/worse/no change when the brakes or accelerator is applied?

No change. Could it be a front wheel bearing?, there is a small whine, can't really hear it though.

Have someone inspect the car for loose components. Could be millions of things.

I wish you had a Winter set, just to test it. Got any TL friends around that you can swap wheel/tire combo's with? It's a half-hour endeavor, and will let you know for sure that it's not the tires. Not really a fan of Kumho myself, unless you're getting the HTR-Z, super cheap tire.

Have them balance the wheel/tire, then rotate the assembly 180 degrees and spin again, should be perfect. If not, machine out of spec or center wheel hole compromised. I need to use the lug hole adapter plate on the balancer on our '04 when I balance them to get them perfect.
Before I got a balancer, I used the Hunter Road Force, but also needed the lug hole adapter plate to get the balance perfect.

Were the lug nuts tightened to 80 ft-lbs last time the wheels were installed? Overtghtening with the air gun can cause the rotors to warp causing the very vibration you're experiencing.

Had is checked out and they said it was the motor mounts. I also noticed that when brake sometimes there is a slight vibration. I had the motor mounts replaced about a year ago and i don't think that that's the problem.

Ok, so last night i went and bought some new front rotors and pads and put those on real quick and it seems like the problem is fixed. The old rotors and pads were less than a year old also, one must've been warped or something. Thanks for all the help guys.

U also forgot to mention that when you gently applied the brakes there was a slight pulsating feeling on the brake pedal, this is an obvious sign of wrapped brake rotors.....

Brake rotors don't warp and personally, every vibration I've experienced in the upper MPH range has been related to wheel/tire problems.

It could be wheel bearing. That's a common issue when things shake at higher speed.

Really random question, but do you know if when they mounted the new tires they also changed the rim position? I had this happen once and it turned out that one of the rims I had in the back was actually bent and when the rim rotated up from with the mounting of the new tires I got a shake in the steering wheel that wasn't from the tire or weights.

Not sure how bad the shake in the wheel is, but something else to consider.
