A-Spec Suspension not Low enough
A-Spec Suspension not Low enough
Hey guys, I have an 05 Silver A-Spec. If i get 1 inch lowering springs to replace, Will it make my car one inch lower than where it sits now? Any suggestions what I should get? I am buing 20's or 19's soon and I want an aggressive stance and look with no rubbing and not Way to low.
When you say stock... what are you referring to? The regular TL? Because my A-Spec is "stock" at the height it is now. If you really thinka bout it, stock is the manufacturers designed specs correct? So if this car is made to be at the height it is now, 1 inch lower springs would lower it starting from its current height. Thats my theory, but if I'm wrong someone please correct me.
A-spec will lower the car 1/2 to 3/4 inches from regular stock suspension. Usually people add lowering springs to stock struts, not to aspec struts. Since the aspec struts are different than the stock struts (I am assuming) I'm not sure with the results will be. Has anybody who has changed their stock suspension compared the two side by side? I would like to understand the differences between the two. Is it the springs or struts or both??
You might just get a drop of 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inch from stock regular non-aspec suspension. For that much of a drop you will need a camber kit to straighten the alignment. You may get rubbing with 20s
my 2 cents

A-spec drop on mine is about 3/4 inch from regular.
Anything more than a 1 inch drop is always trouble when it comes to driving on certain roads. That's why I like just a 1 inch drop. Even if the drop looks nice, the drop causing possible damage because it's too low always sucks.

Stock suspension is what the TL came with from the factory. The A-spec name actually refers to the package from Acura that you can purchase and install on the car. It includes the bodykit, 18" wheels, and suspension kit that will lower the car anywhere from 1/2 - 3/4 inch. You can also purchase these parts separately if you prefer.
When you say your A-spec is "stock", are you saying the car is already lowered with the A-spec suspension kit? I think this is where we got lost by your explanation. The A-spec suspension includes the springs and struts. If you changed the A-spec springs, I do not believe it will lower your car that much more, especially if the springs are made to lower it by an inch.

Hey, thanks for your inputs. So I guess I"ll get the Tein Coilovers so I can adjust the height? So has anyone here changed the springs on an A-Spec ? How was the ride afterwards? Did you need a camber kit?
I was thinking of starting a similar thread. I have an 04 w/ an a-spec suspension and 18's and i want to lower the car strictly for cosmetic reasons. The car handles great but my front end sits a bit high (common problem i am told), so i want to lower it to correct the problem. If i have to lower the front, i might as well lower the entire car a good .5 or .75 more inches all the way around. That said can i just swap out the springs and which springs would be recommended to have a similar ride quality to the a-spec but lower the car a good .75 inches and will i have a problem doing so on the a-spec shocks?
