A-Spec Suspension Modification

No matter how many times I see an A-Spec suspension install I can not see the difference. The difference may be in the ride but for all that money there should be some visual enhancement as well. Can a single coil be cut and how much would that lower the car?

Um... well, all I have to say is that i felt the exact same way (about the visual lowering... didn't see a difference). It's one of those things you'll have to trust you'll see when you see the car in person. Perhaps you can go to a dealership by you and see the two cars side by side (Aspec vs. non-Aspec)

Not necessarily. I considered the minor change in ride height to be a positive. It's nice to be able to take four co-workers out to lunch and not have trouble with the half-dozen speed bumps and humps that I go over on the way out of the parking lot. As for appearance, the change is subtle but it looks great.

That would be a really bad idea. The heat generated from cutting can alter the spring temper with unpredictable, inconsistent, and possibly unsafe results. If you want lower you should go with a spring specifically designed for it.

Aegir, Since you've had the susension on for a while, did you notice any further drop or "settling" from the initial install? Also, did you measure your drop or did you just get the ASpec car from the beginning?

BTW, I love the look of your car with 04 gunmetal wheels...I also have NBP, Bodykit, Lip and the suspension waiting to be intstalled....Wheels are next, but if you've read any of my other rantings around here, you knowthat I can't decide between the 04s and 05s (silver spkl.) .

It's been over a year now and I haven't noticed any settling. I did not do any before/after measurements. I like the way that the gunmetal rims continue to look good after a few days of brake dust. A lighter color like stock starts to look shabby pretty quickly. Apart from appearance, the '04 wheel is a bit wider at 8.5" - which has positives and negatives.

Thanks.

When you say the 8.5" has negatives are you talking about the tire fit and lack of rim protection? That's the only thing I worry about...

How about putting new springs on the A-Spec suspension? That would lower the car and use the aspec shocks?

Guys ... the A-spec suspension (spring + shock) were designed and tested by Acura to worked exclusively for this TL. They are meant to be with each other... otherwise you're going to alter the performance -- more likely in a negative way than a positive way.
