sidewall eggs
sidewall eggs
I have 18x7.5's with kuhmo ecstas 225/40/zr and run a religious 32 psi and im on my second set in 6 months because i keep getting these "eggs" in my sidewalls. the tech at my dealership spotted the first one and said i was in danger of a blowout so i got a new tire ('bout 6 weeks ago), since then it has happened to my other 3 tires so i had to replace them. two of them were from pot holes on these ****ty louisiana roads i even chipped a rim on one. those two were my fault and i could immediately see the egg no question about what caused it. the other two, i have no idea how they got there, they werent there after i hit the pot holes i checked very closely. anyway im wondering if i went up to a 225/45 if this would help or is this a problem with kuhmo tires am i doing something wrong? please help any ideas.

It could possibly be the tires, but it sounds like you need to be more careful on the LA roads. Like ValueTL, I have 225/40s and I have had no problems either....knock wood.

Are sidewall eggs those divots in the sidewall of your tire that look like somebody sliced an oval shaped chunk out of rubber? I just got one of those on my stock tires. Is it something I should just rubber cement it? I'm sorry, I know very little about cars.
