Rusty Lug Nuts

My '04 TL is 7 months old and has 9 K miles on it. Yesterday I was washing the car and noticed that the lug nuts are starting to rust. Has anyone else observed this?

Not on either of my previous 2003 TL-S, my current 2005 TL or my wife's Honda Pilot. I wonder if they were scratched or nicked

10 with rust! I would kindly ask the dealer to replace those. Bring your slip from when your tires were replaced. (its a cheap part, I'll bet they don't give you much push back)

Mine rusted only cause some idiot at the dealership used the wrong size lug wrench and chipped the plating off all of them at the corners of the hex. Had dealer replace no charge.

I suspect that is what happened to my lug nuts. As soon as I get back home I will have the dealer replace them.

Cheap?

Uh, no. I had someone who insisted on having all 20 of his lug nuts replaced under warranty a few years back, and I submitted a bill to Acura for $115, for parts & labor.

The kicker? Only half of them were rusted. But, he was unhappy that the others were dirty & didn't match the brand spanking new ones when he came to pick it up.

So I got some new ones from our parts department, got down on my hands & knees, and put the rest on while he was watching. He showed obvious discomfort & embarrassment that a department manager was reduced to manual labor because of his childish behavior.

So I guess that was my "pound of flesh."
