Question Rims/Tire Suggestions Needed!!

Im looking at getting rims for my 04 TL SSM.

My budget isn't too high for this so im trying to stick around $1600-$1700CDN for everythin including tires and installation and etc.

The hasn't been lowered yet but it'll come around withing a few months after I get the rims. I'll only be lowering it 1.5".

So right now i'm looking at Enkei Imola Rims (black)
specs: 18x8 40 offset
Tires: Yokohoma Envigor 235/40/18

No my question is do any of you guys know a of a Rims that I could get that should fit into my budget with nicer rims?

I'd like Concave rims but haven't found anything withing my budget or liking.

For that kind of money you have some very good alternatives, specially in black. You should check out the XXR site (526 &527, new), Tenzo site, Lorenzo wheels, TSW are a few alternatives. I am sure you will get more good feedback from the AZINE members. Good luck in your hunt!!

Wow...I love the XXR 527's
I can't find no prices on the website..what em I looking at...btw I am in Canada!
Those come in 18x8.75.

Would those rims + tires be around $1600...these seem pretty expensive from the look of it.

I also like the ones

The part that will kill him is he is uphere in CanaDUH and unless he has access to a US shipping addy the wheels/tire are pricy.

OP have you done a Google to find Canadian vendors? Like 1010tires.com or the likes ..

If you're in Canada you can still order off wheelsnext.com, tirerack.com, discounttiredirect.com

and depending where you live (especially me!) you'll still save a wack load of cash ordering from those places.

nlmotoring.com is offering these Rims.

XXR 527
Subtotal: $496.80
Shipping & Handling: $284.20
Tax: $0.00
Total: $781.00

This is what I see at the checkout screen before I enter in my credit card information.

Now I have two questions.
Why is there no tax?
Would I get charged any more fees at etc? or is this the final price I'll be paying in total?

sorry im a newbie when it come to buying things online specially from the US.

I've shipped tons of stuff from the U.S depending on which shipping c/o is bringing them over they will charge you tax (GST + PST) and possible duty (up to 6% outside NA) if not manufactured in North America. I try to broker my own shipments, in the case that I can't I usually try to use USPS, which translates to Canada Post -Xpresspost tracking # service once crossing the boarder.

I'm assuming wheels will be considered too big or too heavy to use USPS you'll have to use freight or ground. I'm assuming most companies in the U.S use UPS which I believe to be the worst into Canada. They like to double the taxes in duties and smoke and mirror fees so be weary using them. Freight & Ground alternatives are Bax Global, FedEX, DHL I believe they are better and also allow for self-brokerage options. Be sure to post pics of your new wheels

The tax is probably included in the shipping and handling. Usually S&H is about $100-$150 so the rest is probably the duty/GST PST HST or whatever your province has/enviro. fees. DTD/TRack do that anyway. Make sure to contact them before you pull the trigger, just to be safe. Ask them what generally happens with Canadian orders.

Also these are sick looking wheels! If they had silver I'd be pulling the trigger. I'm curious to see what Black Chromium looks like tho...

I called a few local shops in my area;

Nextmod: $890 after taxes (2-3 weeks waiting)
TooFastMotors: $800 after taxes (4-6 weeks waiting)
1010tires: $967 + $65 shipping (only once available on the website)

Im assuming the two local shops just gave me a random waiting period and don't know that these rims are back logged at the moment. But I will be going with a local shop to avoid all these customs and etc. problems.

Anyone have an idea of what kind of tires I could get?
235/40/18
I got quotes for the;
Falken 452 - $900
Falken 912 - $740
Still trying to get a quote for the Yokohoma Envigor

I just need some tires that have good treadwear and don't cost me a too much.

Still trying to stay within my $1600-$1700 budget.

Okay I finally found the right price.
I found this guy on another forum but he seems pretty nice..
GBTires.com (samson)
He offered me the Rims for $770 taxes in ----now i'm debating between the Flat Black and Chromium Black?

Now which tires should I go with?
Falken 912 in 235/40/18 are $710/set tax-in.
Falken 452 are $800/set tax-in.
Kumho Ecsta ASX are $640/set tax-in.

If you're debating between those two colours, I'd suggest, not knowing how either looks on your particular car, the Chromium Black. I'm not a big fan of black wheels, since we see so many during the winter months it just reminds me of that shitty winter look.

Also for your tires, I'd recommend the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo from discounttiresdirect.com, for two reasons:

1) $760 shipped (edit: remove valve stems/warranty nonsense comes to 732), all-in to Canada
2) this review here put its in the no. 2 spot (just below the dunlop star tire) for top summer tires this year

What size and offset did you get? As for tires do you track or push your car hard?

I got them in;
18x8.75 with +35 offset

As for tires, I don't push my car hard or anything. Just do local driving and a lot of highway driving. Maybe once in a blue moon i'll push it for a few minutes but thats about it.

my rims are finally coming in July 9th.
But now the hankook v12's are back-ordered and GB Tires guy suggested I could go with the Sumitomo HTRZ III.

They have a stiffer sidewall, quieter and do have slightly better dry grip (according to him)

Should I wait for the Hankook V12's or go with his suggestion?

The hankook V12's are pretty decent tires for what they are! Great pricing and good grip! However they won't get you through any snow that may come your way in canada; and if you already have a snow set I'd suggest rather than go with the V12's that you go with a better tire like the Continental DW.

You should be going with a 245/40/18 tire (slightly wider for more curb protection). The Continental DW are ranked #1 in their category (Max Performance Summer). The Sumitomo HTR Z II are ranked 15 (Ultra High Performance Summer) and the Hankook V12's are ranked 6 in Max Performance Summer. Also another tire you should look into is the Kumho Ecsta SPT, they are ranked 9 in Max Performance Summer and are fairly good tires.
