Talking Rims!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey people! I have got a question for you TL experts. I had a 96 Maxima and have konig verdicts rims 17 x 8(5-100/114 40 O) with dunlop sport 5000 235/45/17 . Can this rim and tire combo fit on my 2003 TL-S without any rubbing or problems???? Anyone have any suggestions for me? Is it true about TL & CL transmission? I heard bad things!!!!! Hopefully it's just a rumor. Thanks

8 inch rim with a +40 offset (that's what you meant, right), with 235 tires probably won't even fit without rubbing even if it's not lowered.
Maybe you can trade someone straight across.

As for the trannies, don't worry about it. If it happens, it happens, and you have a warranty. It's not a big enough problem for a recall, so that should ease 'some' worries. If there is any sign, though, take it to the dealer and have them replace it for safety reasons, though.

Check out the sticky at the top of the page to see what setup other people are running, and any problems they have had.

Your in for some major rubbing in the rear. Sell them on eBay and get something else that's going to fit.

If you look at another thread, Honda/Acura just added the extended warranty to the TLs. We now have 7 years/ 100k miles on the tranny.

Depends on how wide your rims are. You might just have to trim the tab.

Maybe. I had 18x7 with +45 with 225/40/18 tires and I didn't rub. I wasn't lowered and I didn't have to cut the tab. TopGum has 18x8 with +45 and 235 tires, he only had to cut the tab.

Hmmmm...... i kinda confuse here. i spoke with a few people and one had a cl with 17 x 8 and 235 45 17 tires and he said it fit no problem and the other guy has a tls and he has the same size tire and rims. good fit as well. then i read a post and someone said that 235 45 17 tires will fit on our stock tls rims. any input is great appreciated!

According to every tire manufacturer 235/45-17 will fit on wheel widths of 7.5" - 9". With the TL-S wheel width at 6.5" that would rule out going with 235's. Although others have mounted 235's on their TL-S wheels, I would recommend otherwise.
More important than the width of the tire would be the offset of the wheel that would determine whether or not rubbing will occur. When purchasing your wheel just keep in mind that the stock offset if +55.

Will 17 x 7 100/114.3 42 or 45 with 215/50 17 fit with no problems being that the stock offset is 55+
