Rim Style Thoughts/Tire Thickness Advice

Need some help on a setup I plan on purchasing. The setup is going to consist of a staggered stance. Details below:

Brand: TSW
Style: Nurburgring

Front: 18 x 8 +35
Rear 18 x 9 + 32

First and foremost, will fitment be spot on? By this I mean, I wont need to modify any fenders, correct?

Secondly, I am not lowered, I think this setup will still look good since there 18 inch rims and the setup isnt *too* aggresive. Thoughts??

Lastly, what size tires should I run? I dont want to be stretch, but I woudl like a decent sized sidewall (40+). If I need a slight stretch to achieve this, then that would be fine. Tire suggestions for sizes/brands would be great!!!

Honestly...I would not run rims on the TL without lowering it....it actually deteriorates the looks....

I would atleast get a spring kit or type-s suspension which will do a lot more justice to your car and the rims you are looking for....

Everything apart, I think you will fit without rubbing and without rolling fenders...The tires I would run for compromising for not dropping is 235/40 or even a 245/40

Good Luck

I think that 18" a-specs look good on the TL so if you really wanna get wheels good thing you went with 18. They might look good. But I would still sugest you lower the car first

See, thats what I originally thought too, but I actually had 19's on for a few months and the wheel gap wasnt anymore than the stock wheel gap (picture below). I think that i am going to need to keep the sidewall at not too big of a size in order to keep the wheel gap down. Ideally, have the tire/wheel width be the same as my stock tire/wheel width.

dont get me wrong here dude....

the car does look nice....the rims are nice....but its like wearing a nice suit and some nice shoes but the pants are worn so high/small that the sock show up....NO GOOD....the shoes are nice...the pants are nice....the look of the sock not so much...

similarly, the car and the rims look nice....but if you swap out only the springs ($200-300) they car will look 10x better....the springs should give u 1-2" drop depending on which ones you go for and wont change the way your car rides as well....

I would highly recommend them...but if you feel they look nice then you go for it....its your car, you should feel happy it in

get suspension first brotha! you won't regret money put into suspension.

and don't come back with whiny excuses on why you don't want to lower it. if you are worried about ride quality, get some sport springs. you will notice the better handling, with ZERO change in the firmness/softness of the ride.

best part? your car looks better than if you had gotten the rims, rides nicer, and handles far better than getting some heavy 19's on your fully stock setup.

and LMFAO @ socks swoosh

Haha, love that sock comparison. I get what your saying. I think I am going to look into springs, not coilovers. Only thign is, the car has 70k in miles. Will springs make my shocks go quicker?

Cicacci, I went with H&R Springs because of exactly what you're talking about. $245 vs. ~$1,200 for Coilovers.

And I hate to say it, but the guys are right about the wheels/drop. Your Inspyres will look 100% better with the drop. Do your wheels justice and get some springs!

PM me if you have questions!

springs do in fact add wear to your shock valving, causing them to slowly get "floaty" over time. usually, with springs on stock shocks, they wear about 15-30% faster than completely stock depending on height.

you wouldn't actually notice your shocks "going out" for another 30k, at least

edit:
i would look in the classifieds/black market for type-s shocks with springs for sale. that's what i did, $300 assembled, and swapped them with my stock assembly all at once. the higher damping rate on the shock coupled with the lower ride of the type-s will improve handling, and limit the extra wear caused.
