Race springs question *quick help*
Hey guys,
Right now I have Neuspeed Sport Springs on stock shocks. Stock shocks have 30k right now, I got a great deal on Neuspeed Race Springs. I was wondering if I could run the race springs for a a couple of thousand miles before replacing my shocks?
I got a hook up from a shop so installing them is not a problem, but people say "aftermarket springs+stock shocks=big no".
I was reading online and many of the audi guys/8thgen civic guys run neuspeed race for 20-40k miles on stock shocks no problem.
People here run skunk2/H&R Race springs on stock shocks without problems wo why not neuspeed race?
Thanks!

Not something I'd like, and as it won't be the best combination, but as you have read many run the springs on stock equipment and some last quite a while. Not knowing the exact spring drop (2"+), but as they will drop the car lower than the sport springs, the camber will be out, so why not just wait and do it right with the combination of aftermarket spring/shocks you choose, rather than dealing with the camber for a short period until the final installation of new shocks.

Thanks. But I also have a hook up at a alignment shop so I am good there. I am wanting to wait until after the summer before putting on new shocks.
The drop is 2.25" front and 1.75" rear.

Ok I have decided to get shocks right now. Tokico shocks are only affordable for me, what about these shocks? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-NEW-FRONT-...#ht_3409wt_956
Any input would be great. I know Koni are the best but I don't "need" all that extra they come with.
Here is another link to them. http://www.vexmotorsports.com/C8-Spo...4_p_10610.html

Koni's Sport Yellows and Tokico HTS Reds (NOT BLUE HP) are pretty much your only option for a stock-style performance shock. Everything else is just a cheap copy of OEM trying to match oem valving (and probably not succeeding). If simple lowering springs is your game, then you will be fine on stock shocks unless your roads are nasty. Then constant bottoming (like constantly hitting speed bumps) will destroy them.
I ran around Vegas for 6 years on coilover sleeves and 100+k mile stock shocks lowered 3" in my Civic. They were still stiffer than new Koni's on full soft when I took them off. Of course Vegas has relatively new & smooth streets (no freeze/thaw).

Even if your stock shocks blow, will it really matter? If you're considering race springs, ride quality probably isn't your first priority. 94eg speaks the truth. Follow his lead.

Yes it will matter because I am not trying to get a bouncy ride lol. Are the aftermarket struts the same for the TL/TSX/Accord 7th gen? If someone could help me answer this that would be great, I got someone on the TSX forum selling good aftermarket sturts for cheap brand new.
This is what makes me think they are the same. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Koni-Yellow-...ht_2404wt_1167
Please let me know! My race springs are the same for all 3 cars.

Go on the Koni website. It will give you the part numbers for each vehicle.

I wish I could get Konis....maybe later down the road. I am getting a great deal on the C8Sport springs. The coils they make have great reviews on the Nissan/Scion/Civic forums. Its a new company. I know.....new company is not always bad news, its okay though I think every company deserves a chance to be tested. I imagine when Koni was new people were skeptical about them as well.....anyways.

The item number for both TSX/TL is the same, leads me to believe they are the same. They say they are designed to be used with aftermarket springs....I would imagine they are better compared to the soft stocks I have on.
QUICK Q- Lets say I get these....I just throw the neuspeed race springs on these shocks and its plug and play? What about tophats/brushings. I would like to get type s brushings.....and I would like to put some "rubber coil" around the springs so they don't clang like my sports do right now over big bumps.

You should probably skip the type-s bushings and just pay someone to do the install. You need to reuse a lot of stuff from the old shocks and taking them apart is very dangerous.

4 struts for $250. They have that "You get what you pay for" saying for a reason.
But maybe you'll get lucky.
BTW, I don't think your sport springs should "clang".

I think Honda shocks are better. I wouldn't' waste my money on anything but Koni. Even the tokico adjustables suck since one knob adjusts both compression and rebound (that's not a good thing). If you can't afford Koni's then that's cool. Just use your stock shocks. I don't understand why you would want to throw out perfectly good shocks and replace them with aftermarkets OE wannabes.
