Question about TPMS

I recently bought an 04 spare rim that will replace one of my rims that is badly curbed. Can i just mount the sensor from the current wheel to the new wheel? I have yet to mount and balance it but will I have problems regarding TPMS? I have an 06 TL. Any insight on this wil be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can transfer the TPMS sensor over to the new wheel.

I would get a reseal kit to replace the rubber seals.

Just curious, sure they'll fit? The '06 wheel is a different PN from the '04/'05 and will possibly have a larger area around the valve opening for the TPMS valve locks.

It's not the wheel. It's the design of the valve stem area on wheels. I don't know if OEM TPMS fits 04 TL wheels. I just saw the pic (04 TL wheel with TPMS) on BM. I would check with that seller to confirm.

It's fine to transfer TPMS from your 06 TL wheel.

Thank you for clearing this up ! Hopefully I will not encounter any problems tomorrow when I mount and balance the 04 wheel.

Same situation here sort of. I got new wheels for the spring and I'm wondering if I can just take my TPMS sensors and slap them on the new wheels.

Sorry somewhat offtopic: Do you need these still if you are just slapping new tires onto OEM wheels?

No. Just make certain the installer doesn't damage the sensors.

I dont think it will work. two reasons, the 04 doesn't display the actual pressure, it is only a warning that a tire is low. Second reason is that the 06 wheel has an indent where the wheel sensor is and the 04 doesn't.

'04/'05 had no TPMS system, so nothing will be displayed.
