Pirelli PZero Nero M&S
My car now has 24,000 miles on it, in 2 years. Pretty average. Mt wife has driven it twice - not so average. So the last time she drives it, she takes a "missile" through the sidewall, and the EL42 is totaled.
No big loss - did not like the tires anyway (they were the "improved" type).
I went with the Pirelli's because:
1) I have had fine experiences with Pirellis.
2) The PZero Nero was designed for North America, with its temp extremes, and occasional light snow duty in my area (Virginia).
3) Good wet weather traction, tough looks, Ultra High perf all season rating from Tire Rack (UHPAS)
4) Great price - $119 each
5) Michelin A/S's too steep for a family hauler
This tire has exceeded my expectations - grip is excellent in wet and dry, it is quiet, rides better than the EL42, is quieter, and has a fine rating of 400 AAA. Turn-in is crisp. Some flat spotting after sitting for a few days, but it goes away quickly (I must say that my type 2 EL42's did the same).
Unless this tire washes out in the snow, I think it is a fine all-temp performer, and an excellent choice for the TL, especially its quality vs price profile.

i', glad to hear that you have had a good experience with the pirellies because i an going to buy them soon. I have the falken ziex 512e, and now they are really starting to make noise.

AVB for President!
Yeah when my OEM Michelin's run out, I'll be getting the PZero's... Great for the type of weather I have in San Jose, CA... Mostly dry and even when wet this tire should "handle" the situation just fine!

One on the right for me
I'll give them another look when its time for me to buy new tires. Good to know they are quieter than the EL42's. When I put the bridgestone potenzas on the TL they got a tiny bit louder. Nothing annoying but just something I noticed.

I've had the Pirellis since January and concur with the other comments. I love the grip and have noticed that I can take a particular highway ramp on my commute about 10 mph faster than I felt comfortable doing on the EL42s.
Regarding snow, I went skiing at Mont-Tremblant in January and found the Pirellis to be a mixed bag. If you live in an area where snow tyres are customary, then do not attempt to use the Pirellis as a substitute. They're not. The first day at Tremblant we got 25 cm of fresh snow and I got stuck three times in the car park at the condo where we were staying (it's an unpaved car park and I got stuck in an unshoveled space). But on packed snow, they were fine, and they did OK with fresh powder on an already-plowed road. They just didn't deal well with bigger piles of fresh powder or with fresh powder on a surface other than clear pavement. Given that we don't get that sort of snow in the DC area very often, they're very suitable for where I live.
I have noticed a bit of flat-spotting if I haven't driven the car for a week, which has been the case several times in the past month as I have been in New Jersey for a trial in federal court and have not driven much. The vibration is annoying but goes away within about 3 miles. I have not experienced this when I'm driving the car on a more regular basis.

If I had bought directly from the installer, it would have cost $150 more. The guy was nice and told me to buy from Tire Rack and have them shipped to him.

Road Rage, its been a while since we heard from you. Good to have you back and to hear your assessment of the PZN A/S. I have had a chance to put more than 1000 miles on my set and so far am very satisfied with the overall performance. The new ride is more supple and plush than the old tires. Also found the road holding and grip to be good but its wet weather handling is what is outstanding. Have been thru deep water at high speeds and never felt any aqua planing tendencies ever! Noise levels are also well suppressed which makes long drives now much more enjoyable. With the 400 AA +A rating I hope to go beyond 20K for the first time. Nice to be able to get rid of that previous paranoid feeling of maybe going off the road any time it rains!

I love my zeros tooo!! I've got about 28,000 on them in just over a year (busy year). Excellent ride comfort, very low noise for first half of life, superb grip, impossible to hydroplane even in standing water until about 12K -- just fantastic all-seasons.
All tires get louder with age, but these things since about 24K have been annoying loud. They're due for replacement, even though they still have legal tread, still grip in wet and dry -- except some slight spinning on start in wet, esp. uphill -- but I'm getting ready to replace. Still deciding whether to do these again or try the Avon Tech M550. That would save me roughly $100 when all said & done, and that's important right now.
But mad props for the Zeros!! Perfect stock tire for the TL, not that Acura would ever do anything like that....

I just got my new tires and drove around for a while. My Turanzas were getting bald so maybe it's not fair to compare, but what a difference, I love these tires!
I did some hard turns on them, and I gotta say, great grip on the Pirellis. I feel like I'm riding on cushions, even on our crappy pothole filled streets.
Tomorrow I'm taking a long ride on the highway so I'll see how they handle there. I'm also interested to see how quiet they are on the road.
I can't believe how excited I am by new tires. Is something wrong with me?

I'm about to replace my PZero Neros soon and am currently searching to see if there are better tires out there (for the dollar). These tires have performed well and I have no complaints. Long tread life - I think I've put about 30-35k on them, and considering the way I drive, that's pretty good.
Before these I had Falken Ziex 512's and those were completely worn in about 15-17k miles. The Falkens seemed to grip and handle a wee bit better than the Neros, but the service life of the Neros made up for it. The Neros also held up in terms of noise better than the Ziex for the long-term.
I may end up getting another set of Neros, who knows... Good tire and recommended, however.

You're correct with these numbers, atleast for the 2005 5AT and 6MT. I'm not sure if all years are the same.
I saw some other numbers for the front somewhere that were different. I'm not sure if they were incorrect or for a different year ('07?)

I can't speak for any other tire since my dealer installed the P Zero Nero M+S the day I bought the car. But I must say it is a very quiet tire. I took it faily quick on some back roads and the car really stays glued to the road. I'll see how the car does in the winter time. I also get vibration if the car doesn't move for a week..but it goes away after a few miles.

But seriously: Pressure changes alter the tire wear pattern...
If a tire is underinflated, you'll notice more wear closer to the shoulder and sidewalls as well as sluggish steering response. Overinflation will lead to more wear in the center of the tread, along with spooky or looser handling, etc. With proper inflation (not far off recommended, usually), tires wear evenly across the tread without scuffing of the shoulders or sidewalls in normal driving.
I have always stayed within about 4 lbs. of recommended (above, in my case) for street purposes and have never had an uneven or excessive tire wear problem (other than during autocrosses, which use up a lot of tire life ).

I am taking the plunge and just ordered a set of these tires from local Discount Tires. I am hoping to get a little better mileage out of them versus my existing factories at 24,000 miles.
I have not experienced the road noise that I have read other people post, but really hope these stay quiet also. I am religious about tire rotations though.

I have just purchased the Pzero nero M&S 245/40WR18 for $156 per tire through Discount Tire here in Florida. They matched the tire rack price and added about $10 dollars per tire which I would have paid for shipping them from tire rack. They wanted considerably more for them initially until I pressed them to meet Tire Racks price. I have them mounted on Liquid Metal STATIC rims which are 18x8.5. The ride is good and the tires are pretty quiet.
I have some flat spotting also and some tramlining on some of the groved concrete. I am running 35psi all around for now which has improved the wiggle(tramlining). Tire wear remains to be seen as I have less than a 1K miles on them. I had one replaced already after getting some very small piece of plastic in the sidewall causing a leak. Discount tire handled it with no real cost to me. I do have their warranty on them. That costs $29 per tire though. I had to pay $29 for the new tire to put the warranty on it again.

They will come to your house to do the installation and they'll use a road-force balancer if you request it. Highly recommended!

I just put on my second set of PZero's, I went to 245/45/17 for this set and also did the NitroFill on them. I love these tires! My first set Had 42K on them, They did get loud at the end but they were almost bald.

I am trying to decide waht tires to rid me of the fast wearing Bridgestone. I do allot of city driving for my sales job and live in the Midwest snow belt.
Conti Extreme Contact
Avon Tech M550 A/S
Pirelli PZero Nero M/S
Look like the Pirelli might be the blend of performance and overall snow/rain ability.
Any input?

Just got Pirelli Pzero Nero M/S yesterday.
My Falken 512s had been almost worn out after 25K. This tire was really good in the first 15k, however, it got more and more problems (noise/vibration) after 15k.
I was going to buy Michelin, but the price ($210+), including balance+labor, ain't too attractive...
Pirelli PZero Nero M+S costs me $165, including Hunter 9700 road-force balance and labor fee.
So far these tires perform well in cornoring, noise, flooding, etc.
