question, why would you want to go 8.5? thats too wide for our cars and you would need a offset of ATLEAST +55. as far as tires you will not be able to go wider then 245 anyways, and 245's fit perfectly on a rim from 7.5-8 inches wide. i've seen a 235 and 245 width tire on 8.5 in rims and it look funny cuz the rim shoots out father then the tire itself. i would say go with 19x8 max, 19x7.5 would be better 1: 19x8 +51 offset or higher
2: 19x7.5 +47offset or higher
both set ups i would go 235/35 19, you could go 245 from what i've seen but if you lower your car you could rub. hope that helps

i calculated the offset, using 8" wide/50 offset and 7.5" wide/45 offset as reference, and it would hae to be 57ish to make it work.
you might want to check out a thread over at acura-cl since a guy has 18x8.5/41 offset (work/zivell speed wheels) on his ride. he didn't say if it rubbed or not. i don't recall the thread or his username.

jbrown says he's got 19x8 Axis with 235/35-19 with no rubbing, and to boot his offset is only +40. But his car ain't dropped yet so we'll see what happens when the comptechs are installed.

I have 19"x8" wheels, with a 51 offset... and it fits really good, I have room for lowering... I know if my offset were any less, there would be rubbing for sure. At 8.5" wide... I don't think it'll work, jbrown's wheels may be at 40 offset, but I think he had to do some "trimming."

Yeah I had to trim a little, nothing visible, but I wouldn't recommend anything more than 8" wide. 8.5's will be heavier and will probably look dumb with 235's anyway, and 35-series 245's or 255's will be much bigger than the stock diameter. Plus, there's no way you're getting 265/30/19's in a TL-S fenderwell. From personal experience, I recommend 19x8's with a MINIMUM of +45mm offset, +48 to be safe, and +52 maximum, and an ideal tire size of 235/35/19. I am lowering my car this weekend (Comptechs FINALLY arrived from my local Acura dealer), I will try to let you guys know how it works out.

I've always wondered about this... if you got the Comptech kit from the Acura dealership... does that mean that lowering doesn't void any warranities (or anything we do to the car)? I think I may just post a new tread on this topic.

1. 235/35's will look RETARDED when stretched to fit a rim that wide, mine are pushing the limit right now at 8" wide.
2. You wanna talk about rubbing? Bigtime!
3. If you got more offset, they would probably rub on the inside portion of the fenderwells in the front AND the back.
What I don't agree with is how/why people are "rolling" their fenders:
1. It looks VERY difficult. The distance between the rear door and fender lip is very short, so pulling the metal out to create a stealth fender flare is almost impossible. Also, the rear bumper cover is plastic, so your only option is to soften it with heat and re-shape it. GOOD LUCK! If the paint survives (FAT CHANCE) and the plastic doesn't turn to sh!t in your hands, both sides will never match.
2. It is NOT necessary. While installing my Comptech springs, I reassembled the rear suspension without springs and moved the rim/tire all the way up in the fenderwell to the point of tucking 1" of rim AND the whole tire sidewall without rubbing! All I had to do was trim 4-5" of plastic on the rear bumper cover INSIDE the fenderwell and ALL rubbing was cured.
Questions? see the post: 19x8's that don't rub...anymore . And make sure you read the whole thing.
