Depends on you really. If you can do a good job it can last. I did a few different things on my old Rsti.
Rattle can duplicolor bronze
Lasted about 4 years. When I needed new tires though I took them to a place and they chipped one up pretty bad.
Decided to strip them after that and powdercoat them a darker bronze to change it up a little.
The powdercoat held up awesome but if you can't do it yourself you're going to be paying a place anywhere from 60 to 120 bucks a wheel to do.
Then when I got my sti wheels I went from silver to gold.

you could always plastidip the stock wheels gold to see if you like the gold and white combo on your car. Then if so, go out and buy a set of gold rims.

He already likes that combo
"So I saw a white BMW with gold meshies and instantly fell in love with that color combo."
Besides I dont think they sell gold plasti dip. OP would have to order from here:

If OP already likes that combo then just powder coat them. You want them to look the best then do it right.

Looks awesome, just gotta see if it looks good on the stock wheels. Did I miss what year tl the op has? I think it would look better on the 07' 08' base wheels.

Oh, and I painted my base wheels this fall. Powder coating is going to look the best and last the longest. However you might as well buy a cheap set of wheels for the price. Duplicolor wheel paint works pretty well, but it really depends on how well you prep the wheels. If you're lazy with prep and don't let them cure before using them you're going to get chips. I'm pretty happy with mine 3-4 months later, but that's hardly long term.
