YES!!! The wrong offset can cause kickback steering due to poor weight distribution and/or fender rubbing, wear down bearings a lot faster and cause other suspension problems.
If you lower the car, you'd be more screwed. I know how you feel, but that's what you get when buy a luxury car as opposed to a riceable car. It took me a month to find wheels I like and the proper offset that did not break the bank.

If you DON'Twant to gamble, don't go below +42.

Nothing personal, but if you have to ask that question, you obviously don't know how important offset is.

If you want to gamble then go with 42 offset. If you want to be safe then go with 48 or higher.

If someone doesn't lower his car, does it mean he can go with < +48 or even +42 without rubbing the fenders ?

OOPS.. My bust!

Thanks NBP, that's what I meant.

+42 will put the wheels almost right under the fenders, a drop will make it real close in the front.

+48 is the safest with drop, safer with 7 inch width.

47mm offset with 8" width.. will put your tires just a little bit inside the fender safe to drop.. i've seen it

47mm offset with 7.5.. you'll be fine
