LOL. I just found out that we're doing a "105,000 mile service" for the central Cali guys pretty soon. I've got the hookup on timing belt kits now so for under $300 you can have a very complete kit including things most people don't do like cam and crank oil seals.

My GF's father lives in Dallas now so we're making a trip towards the end of summer. It would be nice to meet some of the Texas guys.

Chad, a bandpass box ported through the 8" opening would be awesome! You could have the best of all worlds, stealth, ultra high efficiency from a small woofer and amp, amazing sound quality, no rattles, and fairly small size of the box. I've tossed around the idea of doing just one 12 smashed up against the back of the seat and ported through the 8" opening. The only issue I have with the current setup besides sheer size and weight is rear seat passengers putting the arm rest up which cuts off the bass completely. I need something that's fool proof for my idiot drunk friends.

Check out the difference in wheel gap. The difference is New tires and Aspec springs. I think the tires also helped to take out some wheel gap or at least the appearance of wheel gap, even though these new tires are still the same size (235, 45 / 17). My old tires just looked "little".. not sure why

That looks a whole lot better. Definately a classy "adult" drop.

Thanks.. This heigth and firmness really works well for me. It's a good sporty sedan. Pretty simple.

As far as the bass box, I'm thinking about something that is not technically a bass pass but its sort of like it. Bascially what I want to do is just build a regular sinlge sided box, and then channel the front side of the woofer to the 8" hole. I just have not figure out how to take a 12" woofer (or larger area) down to the 8" hole. haha I'm trying to think of what kind of material would I use, like MDF or is there something already designed in the professional world that I can buy, that would fit one side of the box down to the 8" size. Could I go up with a square wood design, or do I need to make it round then taper it in? I'm still undecided how to do it. There is a place in Tulsa called Audio Advice.. They may have a solution. Dallas car stereo places are nearly worthless when it comes to custom work.

So uh, I never did say, but when I went to Pep Boys to check out tires, I was only going to buy 2. I thought they only had 2 because of what they said, and 2 was all I needed. So I was planning on keeping the 2 Ventus V4 ES's and replacing the other 2. There is half the tread left on the V4's and I had 1 odd Bridgestone Turanzine and 1 V4 ES with a Bubble. So, I was going to get rid of the bubble and get rid of the Bridgestone. The bridgestone was about 40% tread left. So the over all deal, I was planning on buying 2 new tires and keeping 2 partially used V4 ES's.

But I got to the store and they said "I have 4 of the V12's". I was like, Oh? And he said "we have a special, buy 3 get 1 free". And I was like, Oh? Then he said we also have a $40 rebate from the Manufacturer. And I was like OH RILLY? haha So that discount started cutting into the 3rd tire. I was like heck, I was going to buy 2 tires anyway, why not just buy 2.7 tires and get 4.0? And all 4 match and plus these are higher speed rated!... How could I say no? So, I said OK. So then I decided to keep the other 3 tires.. And I just sold them on craigslist for $70. And when I filled out my rebate form today, it said there is a $60 rebate, not $40 like they thought. And since each tire was $120, I got the 4th one free, plus $60 off minus the $70 I got for my old tires.. So 60 + 70 = $130 which his more than the cost of the 3rd tire. So, I basically got 4 new Y speed rated tires for the price of less 2. That's a ton better than 2 used V4 Es' and 2 new of something else. The only gig was that I had to buy the road hazzard for all 4. That was like $50 for all 4. So that would raise the cost up to a little more than the price of 2 tires. Either way, great deal and above all, these were actually available. No special order. It was the only set. I feel sort of fortunate to be able to find and grab them.

I just put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus runflats on my C6 and they are AWESOME tires. I would recommend them to anyone. Best balance of dry and wet performance. They also come with a guarantee to last 45K miles. My GY F1 Supercar tires were costing me $2200 every 8K miles to replace and they were junk. Very soft compound that only really shined only when the pavement was very hot.

Most summer tires have excellent performance in the wet. For some reason many people think if it grips well in the dry, it won't grip in the wet. The NT05s feel like you could go racing on wet roads. Where they don't always shine is in channeling standing water away. Mine aren't bad but I would have to rate them as average through standing water. Wet traction is a function of the compound and channeling standing water away is obviously a function of the tread design.

IHC - did this ever happen? I'm a new member, but born/raised in Bakersfield (now live in SF), and am thinking about the timing belt service. Sorry to bump an old thread, but your PM box is full...

Not yet. Me and Roger on here are trying to work out the best date. We were thinking about the end of January or early Feb.

If you're back in B-town you're welcome to come by.

Off topic but did you go to highschool here?

Yep, Stockdale High School (Class of 1996). My brother went to BHS (Class of 1992) and I had a bunch of friends who went to school on the east side of town, so we probably know some of the same folks. I was down there for a wedding in August. I actually put this in my PM to you, along with thanking you for all of the great posts on transmissions/tires/etc.

There's a reputable independent Honda/Acura shop that will do the full service, including valve adjustment, for $350 labor, so that's my backup 105k plan.
