North East and Mid East Coast: 19" Wheels???
I'm posting this for all my Acura Owners that live in The North East and Mid East Coast; mainly from New York to Virginia and surrounding areas. You all know how the roads are, this is not Cali!!!!! So tell us all how well the 19" wheels maintain on our streets. From potholes to trolley tracks, how many wheels have you bent or tires you have blown?...lol.
People dont kill rims, city streets kill rims!!!

I've bent one stock rim on the DC/VA roads, and I have 2 other friends that have also bent their stock 17s. As for tire blowouts, I know of one local person who bent his stock rim and blew out his tire. Needless to say, when looking for aftermarket wheels, the largest I was willing to go was 18s.

18's are necessary in the Midwest and Northeast unless you like going though expensive 19" bent rims.

Our roads go through so much wear and tear that it aint even funny! Yet alone trying to keep the rims bent-free!!! Hit a good pothole and your entire car might end up in it!!!!! Lol

Hell, I dented my 16's on my old Integra because of a NOVA pothole... Im doing my research now and I decided that I would not go any bigger than an 18. I have to agree that getting 19's would be cool but not real responsible if you are worried about dents.
My school of thought is that if you have to ask the question then the answer probably is no... Kind of like having to ask your wife if shes going to do the dishes.... if you ask, the answer is going to be negative....

I have bent the stock 17s and I also bent my custom 18s (thank goodness its a 3 piece and easily fixed).
So in my opinion, if you really want to...go with 19s cause you will bend whatever on these crappy roads. My advice though is try to go with a 3-piece wheel. It makes fixing easier.

Ive already destroyed one ronjon and blew out my tire twice. I decided to stick with 18s cuz these NY streets are horrible......and even those are a headache. !9s are overkill for these parts

My boy bent 2 19" wheels last year and then went to a wider tire and hasn't busted a rim yet. I'm thinking about doing that later in the year going to 19"s to see what happens. I just think 19's look better than 18's.

19's do look better then 18's...but you have to figure which is more cost effective. I had both on my Diamante and will go with 18's on my TL.

Well I was all set on getting a pair of 19' Ron Jon Ravens black wheels until I saw this thread pop up. I'm also very nervous about getting 19's and having to constantly repair or replace them. I was going to go with the 245/35/19 If I drop down to 18's what do folks reccomend?

i got 19s, but they've held up find even on potholes and everything. Just find a reputable company. also, forged wheels are much stronger (and more expensive) than cast, so if you're really worried, go forged (disclaimer: even though they're forged, doesn't mean they still won't bend)

Ive realized that too many people put the emphasis on the rim and not the tire. Ive had hankook 235-40/18 on my ronjon inspires and would keep blowing the tire on the slightest pothole. The rims held up well but i recently switched and went with BFG KDW 245/40/18 and ive never had an issue since. These tires can efinitely take punishment.
