So, currently i have 245/35 on aodhan ds09 18x9.5 offset +30. It's too stretched for my liking and I'm really not sure what size tire to go for now, (these are older tires i had lying around so i put them on) but i wanna go for a 245/40 and lower my car a little bit when i eventually get coilovers but I don't want to need to roll my fenders right away. Do y'all think there would be any rubbing that would cause issues? Pictures are of my current set up

245 isn't very stretched on a 9.5, I'm on 235/40 and it's not that bad, still within the tire manufacturer's specs. You could try 245/40, it will give you a bit more sidewall so it won't look as stretched. But if you're into meaty tires, then your wheels probably aren't suited to that. Going wide often means having to stretch your tires so they fit your fenders.
#1067
SInce you don't seem to be lowered (and if you don't plan on being), you could easily fit 255/40 or 255/35, but since your wheels are already poking quite a bit, that might not be ideal. Do you have spacers?

I don't have spacers no, the offset of +30 just puts them there unfortunately that's the only part I'm not super happy about with these wheels. But yeah i was hoping to lower it maybe an inch in the future, but the main reason i would like less stretch than what i have is I'm just not a big fan of the lip of the wheel sticking out past the tire, i had the same specs on my old wheels and the lip didn't stick out THIS far so i figured the same tires would be fine. So that's why i wanted to go to a meatier tire set up, what do you think would be preferred route in this situation for a new tire size?
If you change tires now and lower within a year, you'll probably end up having to change your tires again.
#1069
Yeah that's fair, I'll go ahead and do that and see what's up. Plus going lower naturally will give slight camber so maybe I'll be into how it looks with this size on it just being lowered, thank you for your help

1. Brand of Rim - ESR RF2 Graphite
2. Rim size (diameter and width) - 18x8.5
3. Offset - +30mm
4. Brand of tire - Continental ExtremeContact DWS06+
5. Tire size - 235/40R18
6. Drop Type and Amount - Mild ~1.5in drop on Tein Street Advance Z coilovers, natural camber
7. Do they rub - No rubbing
8. Transmission type (use of spacers if 6MT) - 6MT no spacers. Tight clearance, about 2mm between spokes and face of the caliper.
The TL is sitting pretty despite turning 20 years old! Just finished up with new wheels, tires, and a complete suspension refresh w/ Tein coilovers, lower ball joints, control arms, axles, tie rods, and sway bar end links. Figured I'd post some pics since while I was researching these wheels I couldn't find any TLs running ESR RF2s in this size. Overall I'm super happy with how they look after installing coilovers. They poke a little too much at the stock ride height which looks kinda goofy.
Fitment is almost perfect in my opinion. The fronts are flush with the fender at the current ride height. The rears could maybe use a 5mm spacer. However I will be adding camber arms in the rear which, in addition to bringing the rear camber back into spec, should make the rear sit more flush.
