Megan racing coilovers question
So , new to all of this lowering of things lol, just got rid of my Infiniti G35 coupe. This car is alot softer than my G35. I have gone through all the stickies threads and didn't find what I was needing to know really. Just wanting to lower my 2008 TL has 85k miles on it. Looking to buy some Megan racing coilovers, just wondering everyones experiance with these and what all you suggest replacing at the time of install. Will these come with everything I need? Not really looking to go super cambered out, and have read that I will not need a camber kit. Tophats? etc? staying on stock wheels for now until I get the suspension done. Any help would be appreciated.

I ran megan coilovers for a year without any problems. I believe they have 32 settings for the damper so you can adjust how soft or firm you want the ride. They come with the tophats so you don't need to worry about those. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set. Good luck

I too have Megan coilovers and im happy with them. Had them for a year now. Might as well pick up the camber kits OR you will be spending the money on tires sooner if you plan on lowering around 2" or more.
Do it right the first time, and install everything at once

Okay so guess I'm not getting it. I figured the camber kit was to give me more camber , which would wear out tires faster. So the camber kit is to give less camber, get your wheels back more to stock angle? And is that all I will needs then? And will I have to roll my fenders?

If your going with an aggressive offsetl, you may need to add more camber to fit them. And if your going with a conservative offest, you can set your camber closer to factory specs. Of course, this all depends on what your future plans are for the TL

I've been running Megan coilovers for a year now and have no major issues. They are a complete system and do not require any additional hardware. I do recommend installing a front and rear camber kit. My current dampening settings, front and rear, are 15 clicks back from stiffest setting. TL is about 2" drop all around, and passenger front upper a-arm hits the top of the wheel well when I have a passenger, and hit certain dips. Other than that everything is great!

you got the two wrenches with the coilovers, right?
at the bottom of the spring, you will see two perches with ridges on them. in order to loosen them, lock the wrenches into the ridges, and twist the bottom one clockwise and the top one counter-clockwise (when look down from the top).
then spin each perch up to the desired position, then reverse the process to lock the perches. top one clockwise, bottom one counter-clockwise. make sure it's on there tight.
also, clean the threads on the shock bodies before you start moving the perches. dirt could mess up the threads.
lastly, make sure you measure the distance between the locking rings after you get your desired right height and make sure all 4 corners are the same height.

^it can be a bit daunting your first time. just take it one step at a time. don't move onto step#2 until you finish and understand why you did step#1.
it'll make more sense with the directions in your hand as you're sitting in front of the coilover.
just be patient, do one thing at a time.

^PB blaster and liquid wrench are your friends. a toothbrush (something bristly) to scrub in between the threads will help.
it's just dirt and road grime/salt that have it seized up. are the coils installed on the car at the moment?

^ok well try the before mentioned items and see if you can crack it loose. let the blaster/liquid wrench penetrate for a while before trying.
they can be a bitch...that is for sure.

hey just got my coilovers on. question is, do theses come preset as far a spring rate goes? i have threaded the rear mount out 35 turns each, and the right side seems to be a little higher. is it the spring that needs adjusted since the bottom mounts are the same, or do I just move the bottom mount on the high side to get it to level out? also, what are the best settings you guys have found to a not bumpy ride as far as the comp settings go?

you shouldn't need to mess with the spring rate at all.
i run mine full stiff up front at 3/4 stiff rear.

I've recently installed a set of Megan coil overs on my '07 and have no problems. I didn't caber much so I'm going to hold off on the kits for now. What's sucks is that some of the Megan sets for other cars come with caber adjustment. Overall, money well spent. Best bang for your buck.
